The modeling and analysis of hybrid nanofluid has much importance in industrial sector where entropy optimization is the key factor in different processes. This mechanism is also used in medical industry, where it can be used for separation of blood cells (red and white blood cells, platelets and plasma) by centrifuge process, treating cancers, and drug transport. In light of this importance, current study is focused on mathematical modeling and analysis of blood based hybrid nanofluid between rotating disks with various shapes of nanoparticles.

In this study, we investigate the flow of electrically conducting hybrid nanofluid , due to rotating disks, along with thermal slip, heat generation, and viscous dissipation. The nonlinear differential system is modelled and transformed into dimensionless partial differential equations using suitable dimensionless variables. To obtain solutions for the considered model, a finite difference toolkit is implemented, and numerical solutions are achieved.

Self-compacting concrete (SCC) incorporating secondary raw materials has been extensively used around the globe due to its improved fresh, mechanical and durability properties. This study was planned to evaluate the suitability of locally available waste alumina powder (AP) and nylon textile fibers (NF) as a partial replacement for fine and coarse aggregates with the ultimate goal to locally produce SCC with desired properties. The used AP was acquired from a local market and NF was collected from a local textile factory.

Although the disposal of waste ashes causes environmental hazards, recycling them helps in reducing their harmful impacts and improves the characteristics of building materials. The present study explores the possible use of locally available waste ashes including Rice husk ash (RHA)and Silica Fumes (SF) as a partial replacement for cement in concrete to counter the negative impact of alkali-silica reactions (ASRs). In the present study, ternary blends including RHA (0-30%), SF (5% and 10%) and Portland cement were investigated.

The CRISPR-Cas9 system has recently evolved as a powerful mutagenic tool for targeted genome editing. The impeccable functioning of the system depends on the optimal design of single guide RNAs (sgRNAs) that mainly involves sgRNA specificity and on-target cleavage efficacy. Several research groups have designed algorithms and models, trained on mammalian genomes, for predicting sgRNAs cleavage efficacy.

A self-powered device for human activity monitoring and energy harvesting for Internet of Things (IoT) devices is proposed. The self-powered device utilizes flexible Nano-generators (NGs), flexible diodes and off-the-shelf capacitors. During footsteps the NGs generate an AC voltage then it is converted into DC using rectifiers and the DC power is stored in a capacitor for powering the IoT devices.

With the view towards future non-volatile random access memories that can be integrated at a large scale, extensive study on resistive switching (RS) devices arranged in a crossbar array is currently underway. Although the crossbar array architecture offers relatively simple and acceptable scalability, the presence of sneak current is recognized as a critical issue that needs to be resolved at device level. In addressing this issue, we demonstrate a new type of RS device fabricated by combining graphene oxide (G-O) and zinc oxide (ZnO) with highly asymmetric current-voltage (I-V) characteristics depending on the polarity of bias voltage.

A novel disposable all-printed electronic biosensor is proposed for a fast detection and classification of bacteria. This biosensor is applied to classify three types of popular pathogens: Salmonella typhimurium, and the Escherichia coli strains JM109 and DH5-α. The proposed sensor consists of inter-digital silver electrodes fabricated through an inkjet material printer and silver nanowires uniformly decorated on the electrodes through the electrohydrodynamic technique on a polyamide based polyethylene terephthalate substrate.

Continuous adjustment of Propofol in manual delivery of anesthesia for conducting a surgical procedure overburdens the workload of an anesthetist who is working in a multi-tasking scenario. Going beyond manual administration and Target Controlled Infusion, closed-loop control of Propofol infusion has the potential to offer several benefits in terms of handling perturbations and reducing the effect of inter-patient variability. This paper proposes a closed-loop automated drug administration approach to control Depth Of Hypnosis in anesthesia.
