The objective of this investigation was to analyze timed-AI conception rates (CRs) of different sires in light of their conventional semen quality parameters, sperm head morphometry, and chromatin alterations. Semen was collected in the field from six Angus bulls and used for the timed-AI of 890 suckled multiparous Nellore cows at a single farm. Semen batches were evaluated on the following in vitro parameters: sperm motility, concentration, and morphology, sperm head morphometry, and chromatin alteration types.

Growing consumer interest in healthy foods has led to an increased demand for bioactive compounds derived from eco-technologies. This review highlighted two emerging technologies, pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) and supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), which are based on clean processes aimed at recovering bioactive compounds from different food sources. We studied how the different processing conditions provide many advantages and a great opportunity to obtain compounds with antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, or antifungal activity from plant matrices and industrial biowaste, especially antioxidant compounds (anthocyanins and polyphenols) due to their important role in health promotion.

Introduction Patients with hematologic malignancies are susceptible hosts for the development of invasive fungal infection (IFI), one of the main life-threatening infectious complications faced by these patients. Currently, we have antifungal prophylaxis strategies and antifungal treatment schemes and we recognize that the main risk factor involved is profound and prolonged neutropenia. D-index and cumulative D-index are quantitative parameters, which determine the magnitude of neutropenia, as a function of duration and depth and their value correlates with the occurrence of IFI.

Mechanical interactions between cells and their microenvironment play an important role in determining cell fate, which is particularly relevant in metastasis, a process where cells invade tissue matrices with different mechanical properties. In vitro, type I collagen hydrogels have been commonly used for modeling the microenvironment due to its ubiquity in the human body. In this work, the combined influence of the stiffness of these hydrogels and their ultrastructure on the migration patterns of HCT-116 and HT-29 spheroids are analyzed.

Purpose: Despite strong induction chemotherapy response rates, only 30%-40% of patients with adult B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) attain long-term remission. This study analyzes ALL in Latin America (LA) and recommends diagnosis, treatment, and management protocols.
Methods: The Americas Health Foundation organized a panel of hematologists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico to examine ALL diagnosis and therapy and produce recommendations.

Objectives: Ultrasound is widely used in diagnosing carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). However, the limitations of ultrasound in CTS detection are the lack of objective measures in the detection of nerve abnormality and the operator-dependent nature of ultrasound imaging. Therefore, in this study, we developed and proposed externally validated artificial intelligence (AI) models based on deep-radiomics features.

Background: Leiomyomas are benign smooth muscle tumors that are rarely diagnosed in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses.
Objective: This systematic review summarizes the histopathologic and clinical tumor characteristics, surgical management, and follow-up of sinonasal leiomyomas.
Methods: A systematic review of the literature on sinonasal leiomyoma was performed by applying the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines.

A chalcone analogue, (E)-3-(phenyl)-1-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one (DMU 101), was synthesized using classic base catalysis and Claisen-Schmidt condensation, and then screened for its antidiabetic properties. The compound's effects on glucose and lipid metabolism were assayed in rats that were treated acutely and for a short time to elucidate its mechanism of action, evaluating glucose tolerance and lactate dehydrogenase activity in response to chalcone analogue administration. The chalcone's in vitro and ex vivo effects on glycogen, glucose, lipid and lipolysis were also investigated, as well as the mechanism by which it induces Ca influx-mediated insulin secretion.

Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus (ToLCNDV) represents a threat to economically important horticultural crops. A real-time loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay for in-field ToLCNDV detection was developed, coupled to a rapid sample preparation method, and tested both in field and laboratory conditions on zucchini squash, tomato, and pepper samples. A set of six LAMP primers was designed for specific ToCLNDV detection, targeting a 218-nucleotide sequence within the AV1 gene.

Background: It has been proposed that the immunomodulatory capacity of neuraltherapeutic medicine (NTM) functions by means of stimuli to the nervous system, which influences the self-regulatory and plastic capacity of the nervous system, especially through the autonomic balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. Several studies report the usefulness of NTM in inflammatory pathologies.
Case Presentation: A case report through a retrospective review of the medical history of an 82-year-old male patient with a diagnosis of acute SARS-CoV-2 who received a therapeutic intervention of NTM at the beginning of his hospitalization and presented satisfactory clinical evolution, with a follow-up for 18 months without post-COVID sequelae.

Background: Secukinumab has previously demonstrated sustained efficacy and favourable safety for up to 52 weeks in paediatric patients (children and adolescents aged 6 to <18 years) with severe chronic plaque psoriasis (NCT02471144).
Objective: To investigate the long-term (104 weeks) efficacy and safety of secukinumab.
Methods: After 52 weeks, patients continued to receive secukinumab low dose (LD [75/150 mg]) or high dose (HD [75/150/300 mg]).

The pancreatic islets are composed of discrete hormone-producing cells that orchestrate systemic glucose homeostasis. Here we identify subsets of beta cells using a single-cell transcriptomic approach. One subset of beta cells marked by high CD63 expression is enriched for the expression of mitochondrial metabolism genes and exhibits higher mitochondrial respiration compared with CD63 beta cells.

We describe the MalariaGEN Pf7 data resource, the seventh release of genome variation data from the MalariaGEN network. It comprises over 20,000 samples from 82 partner studies in 33 countries, including several malaria endemic regions that were previously underrepresented. For the first time we include dried blood spot samples that were sequenced after selective whole genome amplification, necessitating new methods to genotype copy number variations.

The infiltration of foreign materials not approved for medical purposes or of modeling substances used in soft tissue to modify the anatomical appearance for aesthetic purposes represents a serious health problem. These procedures lead to the development of delayed complications, including infections. The objective of this study was to characterize infections in patients with adverse reactions to the use of modeling substances in Cali, Colombia.

The transparency of data on the value chain of medicines is crucial for the study and monitoring of the pharmaceutical system. These data may impact medicine pricing negotiations, contribute to patient access to pharmaceutical products, and strengthen health systems. This study analyzed the national strategies to ensure the transparency of data from medicine cost development to marketing in Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia.

The study aimed to evaluate cryo-injury during the cryopreservation in Sorubim cuspicaudus sperm with ethylene glycol (EG) at different rates (6, 8, 10%). Fresh, prefrozen, and post-thawed sperm quality as motility total, velocities, mitochondria damage (Mit-d), membrane damage (Mem-d), and DNA fragmentation (DNA-f), were examined. The Mit-d, Mem-d, and DNA-f were evaluated through flow cytometry.
