The current development of technology has highlighted the necessity of compounds that enhance the durability and performance of alkali-ion batteries. The anodes of these batteries need to overcome the challenges of low dc-conductivity at ambient temperatures and interfacial resistance between the solid-state electrolyte. By conducting large-scale molecular dynamics simulations, we investigated the transport properties of LiTiO and LiZrO mono- and bi-crystals, as well as LiTiO@LiZrO composites.

Department of Environmental Engineering, Chung Yuan Christian University, Taoyuan, 32023, Taiwan; Center for Environmental Risk Management, Chung Yuan Christian University, Taoyuan, 32023, Taiwan.

Anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) offer promise in municipal wastewater treatment, with potential benefits including high-quality effluent, energy recovery, sludge reduction, and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. However, AnMBR face hurdles like membrane fouling, low energy recovery, etc. In light of net-zero carbon target and circular economy strategy, this work sought to evaluate novel AnMBR configurations, focusing on performance, fouling mitigation, net-energy generation, and nutrients-enhancing integrated configurations, such as forward osmosis (FO), membrane distillation (MD), bioelectrochemical systems (BES), membrane photobioreactor (MPBR), and partial nitrification-anammox (PN/A).

In medicine, the occurrence of antibiotic resistance was becoming a critical concern. At the same time, traditional synthesis methods of antibacterial agents often lead to environmental pollution due to the use of toxic chemicals. To address these problems, this study applies the green synthesis method to create a novel composite using a polymer blend (M8) consisting of chitosan (CS), polyethylene glycol (PEG), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), and silver nanoparticles.

Laboratory for Chemical Computation and Modeling, Institute for Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence, Van Lang University Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam

We investigate a new series of rock-salt type structures, NaMCl with M = Mg, Ca, Ba, Zn and Sr using advanced atomistic simulations. Calculated results show a direct relationship between the size of the M cation and lattice parameters as well as the defect formation energy variation. The NaCl Schottky defect type is highly favourable, and the NaBaCl structure possesses the lowest values of defect formation energies.

This research investigated the gelation, biodegradation, and drug release efficiency of a novel injectable sensitive drug delivery system for human growth hormone (HGh). This composite system comprises pH- and temperature-sensitive hydrogel, designated as oligomer serine-b-poly(lactide)-b-poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(lactide)-b-oligomer serine (OS-PLA-PEG-PLA-OS) pentablock copolymer, as matrix and electrosprayed HGh-loaded chitosan (HGh@CS) nanoparticles (NPs) as principal material. The proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum of the pH- and temperature-sensitive OS-PLA-PEG-PLA-OS pentablock copolymer hydrogel proved that this copolymer was successfully synthesized.

The interplay of climate change, upstream hydropower development, and local water engineering interventions for agricultural production contributes substantially to the transformation of waterscapes and water scarcity in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta. This paper aims to examine how these dynamics are linked to the paradigm shift in water management in An Giang and Ben Tre, the two ecologically distinct provinces that face serious water scarcity in the delta. We used the adaptive management concept to examine how state-led policy directions from food security towards water security enable change in water management that gives priority to water retention.

Defect-Driven MoS Nanosheets toward Enhanced Sensing Sensitivity.

ACS Omega

June 2024

VNU-HCM Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Processing (Key CEPP Lab), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), 268 Ly Thuong Kiet Street, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City 70000, Vietnam.

In this study, S-deficient MoS was prepared using proton irradiation and then applied as sensing materials for the detection of NO gas. First, bulk MoS was treated by ultrasonics to produce 2D nanosheets of MoS, which were subsequently bombarded by a flux of high-energy protons, resulting in the appearance of structural defects throughout MoS. The proton fluxes were adjusted to different densities of 1 × 10, 1 × 10, 1 × 10, and 1 × 10 ions/cm.

The synthesis of medicinally relevant -aryl-substituted 2-aminobenzothiazoles often uses 2-aminothiophenol derivatives, which are not commercially abundant, as starting materials. Herein, we report a method for the annulation of C3-substituted nitroarenes and aryl isothiocyanates towards the synthesis of 2-aminobenzothiazoles. Reactions proceeded in the presence of cobalt ferrite nanoparticles as a catalyst, DABCO as a base, and DMF as a promoter.

The latter includes discrete mouth morphologies related to alternate feeding strategies (ecomorphs) within populations. One new species is described, Hoàng, Phạm & Trần, , and 17 synonyms of six valid species names of , , , , , , and , are recognised.

The adsorption of organic compounds onto metal surfaces holds significant importance across various applications, where understanding the intricate interactions between the compounds and the metal surfaces is indispensable. By using density functional theory calculations, this study investigated the impact of functional groups on the interaction between the thione form of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) and the Cu(111) surface. The results indicated that substituting functional groups at the C6 position exerts a dual influence on the covalent and non-covalent interactions (NCI).

The catalytic application of 3-(4-sulfobutyl)-1-imidazole-3-ium chloride immobilized on activated silica gel (SiO-Imi-SOH) for the production of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural is described here for the first time. This material was synthesized using a three-step method involving the grafting of chloropropyl groups onto activated silica gel, the substitution of zwitterions, and the acidification of zwitterions to form silica-supported ionic liquid. The successful immobilization of the IL on silica gel was confirmed through energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and elemental mapping.
