Background/objectives: While previous evidence has shown that using free weights for resistance training is a more practical approach to enhancing strength, there is a relatively low prevalence of free-weight resistance training among adolescent kayak/canoe athletes. Therefore, this study aims to assess the impact of free-weight resistance training on body composition and various performance factors among adolescent canoe/kayak athletes.
Methods: Twenty-seven young sprint kayakers and canoeists (14 ± 1 years; 164 ± 7 cm; 56 ± 8 kg) completed this study.

Background: Prolonged exercise usually leads to exercise fatigue, which has a negative short-term impact on exercise performance and metabolic rate; thus, fatigue needs to be resolved. Okara is a protein-rich residue of soy processing. Enzyme hydrolysis is known to increase the content of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), which have been reported to confer benefits for exercise.

The purposes of this study are to investigate college students' attitudes toward ChatGPT and to understand whether gender makes any difference in their attitudes. We developed the ChatGPT attitude scale (CAS) and administrated it to a sample of 516 Taiwan college students. Through an exploratory factor analysis, the 5-T (Tool, Tutor, Talk, Trend, and Threat) model of CAS was extracted and validated via confirmatory factor analysis.

Background: This study aims to facilitate parental identification of designated emergency facilities for expeditious pediatric care within the framework of Taiwan's newly implemented "regional joint defense" approach to pediatric emergency services. The research seeks to elucidate the mechanisms by which this novel system can enhance timely access to appropriate emergency care for children, potentially improving health outcomes and resource utilization in acute pediatric situations.
Methods: Factor analysis (FA) and triangular entropy matrix (TEM) analyzed the appearance, breathing and skin of pediatric assessment triangle (ABC of PAT), three types of prehospital pediatric emergence condition (PPEC), five levels of Taiwan's pediatric emergency triage (TPET), and applied the social learning theory (SLT) in educational doctrine, using experts' weighted questionnaires.

Background: An intravesical gas explosion is a rare complication of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). It was first reported in English literature in 1926, and up to 2022 were only forty-one cases. Injury from an intravesical gas explosion, in the most severe cases appearing as extraperitoneal or intraperitoneal bladder rupture needed emergent repair surgery.

In this study, a series of BiTeX (X = Cl, Br, I) photocatalysts were successfully synthesized via a simple hydrothermal method. The synthesis process involved dissolving BiX and Te powder in toluene to identify the most efficient material for photocatalytic activity. The main objective of this approach is to facilitate the conversion of carbon dioxide into sustainable solar fuels, such as alcohols and hydrocarbons, offering an appealing solution to address environmental concerns and energy crises.

Aeromonas hydrophila has ability to spread tetracycline resistance (tetR) under stresses of oxytetracycline (OTC), one of the most important antibiotics in aquaculture industry. Even though environmental reservoir of Aeromonas allows it to be at interfaces across One Health components, a robust modelling framework for rigorously assessing health risks is currently lacking. We proposed a One Health-based approach and leveraged recent advances in quantitative microbial risk assessment appraised by available dataset to interpret interactions at the human-animal-environment interfaces in various exposure scenarios.

Executive dysfunction and other symptomatology could have links in preschoolers with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This study contains three objectives: to explore the difference in executive function between preschoolers with ASD and typically developing individuals (TD), to investigate correlations between executive function and multiple domains of autism symptoms in preschoolers with ASD, and to examine the impact of executive function on symptoms of autism. Participants of this study included preschoolers (4-6 years) with ASD (24 boys, 20 girls) according to DSM-5-TR criteria and TD (24 boys, 20 girls).

Gold nanoparticles (GNPs) are usually formed via a wet chemical method using gold (III) chloride trihydrate (GC), which is treated with stable reducing agents such as sodium citrate (SC). This study determines the effect of coloured light on the formation of GNPs by irradiation of SC after the addition of GC (SCGC) and the effect of the SCGC photolytic procedure on the suppression of WiDr colon cancer cells by forming reactive oxygen species. The absorbance of surface plasmon resonance peaks at 523 nm are 0.

We constructed a hybrid model of harmonic and anharmonic oscillators to compute Franck-Condon factors and interpret the photoelectron spectrum of methylketene. The equilibrium structures of methylketene and its cation were optimized, and then, the harmonic and anharmonic vibrational frequencies were computed using the B3LYP, PBE0, APFD, and ωB97XD approaches of the density functional theory. The photoelectron spectrum of methylketene was simulated by computing the Franck-Condon factors with both the harmonic and hybrid models.

The extensive consumption of fossil fuels increases CO concentration in the atmosphere, resulting in serious global warming problems. Meanwhile, the problem of water contamination by organic substances is another significant global challenge. We have successfully synthesized ZnGaTe/g-CN (ZGT/GCN) composites for the first time as effective photocatalysts for both pollutant degradation and CO reduction.

Riboflavin-5'-phosphate (FMN), an innocuous product of riboflavin (RF) phosphorylation, is vital for humans. FMN is sensitive to light illumination, as indicated by reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation. This investigation was undertaken to evaluate the influence of blue light illumination (BLI) and violet light illumination (VLI) upon FMN to develop a method to inhibit WiDr colon cancer cells by FMN photolysis.

This study aimed to understand the public reaction to the 2015 dengue outbreak in Taiwan by determining the key influencing factors. A total of 1104 respondents aged 18 years and over, were recruited by telephone between November 20 and 28, 2015, to investigate fear, risk perception, and psychological distress during the dengue outbreak. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that fear of dengue was more prevalent in the areas that were most affected, as well as those with infected friends or relatives.

On 19 April 2022, in order to overcome a succession of recent global food health and agriculture safety (FHAS) incidents, the Taiwanese government instituted and announced 20 comprehensive Articles under the Taiwanese Food and Agricultural Education Law (TFAEL) for regulating the Taiwanese FHAS in order to completely construct the international strategies under the current global food security challenges of the FAHS. As a result, this research study firstly employs the learning community model (LCM) of the learning theory to measure the implementing depth of the international sustainability practice of the 20 Articles of the Taiwanese FHASE from a learning performance analytical perspective. Then, the social learning theory (SLT) of the educational theory is applied to consolidate the individual behaviors of the relative stakeholders, the organizational management of the relative industries and the socialized consent of the multilateral organization performance assessment network (MOPAN) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN).

Many countries' curriculum reforms focus on developing the next generations' competencies of self-directed learning (SDL) to address rapid social changes and sustainable environmental development. Taiwan's curriculum reform corresponds with the global trend in education. The latest curriculum reform, which proposed a 12-year basic education, was implemented in 2018 and included SDL explicitly in its guidelines.
