Our first patient was a 42-year-old healthy Chinese man with moderately severe psoriasis, not adequately controlled with potent topical steroids and vitamin D analogs. His pre-immunosuppressant work-up was normal. He was prescribed methotrexate prior to switching to cyclosporine with an initial dose of 200 mg daily (2.

Hydrophilic polymer embolism from vascular medical devices is an underrecognized clinical entity that can cause deleterious end-organ ischemia and culminate in mortality. This is concerning as we are in the era where minimally invasive procedures are commonplace. Diagnosis is often made retrospectively after obtaining histopathological tissue samples showing endoluminal, cerebriform, amorphous, anucleate, basophilic, nonrefractile, nonpolarizable foreign body material.

Background: Eblasakimab, an interleukin (IL)-13 receptor α1 antagonist, blocks IL-4 and IL-13 signaling through the type 2 receptor.
Objective: The safety and efficacy of eblasakimab was evaluated in adults with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD).
Methods: In this phase 1b randomized, double-blinded study, 52 patients with moderate-to-severe AD received weekly subcutaneous injections of eblasakimab 200, 400, or 600 mg, or placebo for 8 weeks.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a potentially fatal neoplasm characterized by the aberrant differentiation of mononuclear phagocytes, driven by mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway activation. LCH cells may trigger destructive pathology yet remain in a precarious state finely balanced between apoptosis and survival, supported by a unique inflammatory milieu. The interactions that maintain this state are not well known and may offer targets for intervention.

Background: Nickel allergy is the most common contact allergy, and a nickel salt is, therefore, included in most baseline patch test series. In the baseline series of the International Contact Dermatitis Research Group and the American Contact Dermatitis Society, nickel sulfate hexahydrate (NSH) in petrolatum at 2.5% is included, whereas NSH at 5.

Importance: Although isotretinoin may rarely be associated with laboratory abnormalities such as hypertriglyceridemia, the optimal approach to laboratory monitoring is uncertain, and there is wide variation in clinical practice.
Objective: To establish a consensus for isotretinoin laboratory monitoring among a diverse, international cohort of clinical and research experts in acne.
Design, Setting, And Participants: Using a modified electronic Delphi process, 4 rounds of anonymous electronic surveys were administered from 2021 to 2022.
Background: Personal protective equipment (PPE)-related occupational dermatosis (PROD) represents a significant occupational burden to health care workers (HCWs), and understanding its epidemiology is imperative in formulating mitigation strategies.
Objectives: To determine the prevalence of PROD in HCWs, characterize its manifestations, identify its risk factors, and evaluate behavioral modifications of HCW.
Methods: A cross-sectional study using an online questionnaire was conducted from July to September 2020.

Cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) is an inflammatory, autoimmune disease encompassing a broad spectrum of subtypes including acute, subacute, chronic and intermittent CLE. Among these, chronic CLE can be further classified into several subclasses of lupus erythematosus (LE) such as discoid LE, verrucous LE, LE profundus, chilblain LE and Blaschko linear LE. To provide all dermatologists and rheumatologists with a practical guideline for the diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of CLE, this evidence- and consensus-based guideline was developed following the checklist established by the international Reporting Items for Practice Guidelines in Healthcare (RIGHT) Working Group and was registered at the International Practice Guideline Registry Platform.

Poikiloderma is a skin condition that combines atrophy, telangiectasia, and macular pigment changes (hypo- as well as hyperpigmentation). It is often mistaken for mottled pigmentation by general practitioners or nondermatology specialists. Poikiloderma can be a key presenting symptom of Rothmund-Thomson syndrome (RTS), dyskeratosis congenita (DC), hereditary sclerosing poikiloderma (HSP), hereditary fibrosing poikiloderma with tendon contractures, myopathy, and pulmonary fibrosis (POIKTMP), xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), Bloom syndrome (BS), Kindler syndrome (KS), and Clericuzio-type poikiloderma with neutropenia (PN).

Background: Fragrance mix II (FM II) is included in the baseline patch test series recommended by the International Contact Dermatitis Research Group (ICDRG). Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde (HICC) is the most important sensitizer of the 6 fragrance materials included in FM II. Besides being a part of FM II, HICC is also tested separately in the ICDRG baseline series.

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease. Skin barrier defects contribute to disease initiation and development; however, underlying mechanisms remain elusive.
Objective: To understand the underlying cause of barrier defect, we investigated aberrant expression of specific microRNAs (miRNAs) in AD.

Hair growth can be induced from resting mouse hair follicles by topical application of JAK inhibitors, suggesting that JAK-STAT signaling is required for maintaining hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) in a quiescent state. Here, we show that Oncostatin M (OSM), an IL-6 family cytokine, negatively regulates hair growth by signaling through JAK-STAT5 to maintain HFSC quiescence. Genetic deletion of the OSM receptor or STAT5 can induce premature HFSC activation, suggesting that the resting telogen stage is actively maintained by the hair follicle niche.

Background: Immune adaptation with aging is a major of health outcomes. Studies in humans have mainly focus on αβ T cells while γδ T cells have been neglected despite their role in immunosurveillance. We investigated the impact of aging on γδ T cell subsets phenotypes, functions, senescence and their molecular response to stress.

Automatic skin layer segmentation in optical coherence tomography (OCT) images is important for a topographic assessment of skin or skin disease detection. However, existing methods cannot deal with the problem of shadowing in OCT images due to the presence of hair, scales, etc. In this work, we propose a method to segment the topmost layer of the skin (or the skin surface) using 3D graphs with a novel cost function to deal with shadowing in OCT images.

Acne vulgaris is a common disease among people in Asia. International guidelines and treatment recommendations emphasize the central role of topical retinoids in the management of acne. However, topical retinoids remain underutilized in clinical practise, which may be in part due to fear of retinoid-associated dermatitis/lack of experience, particularly in Asian patients.
