A preparation method for steroid-based difluoroboron complexes has been developed using lumiestrone as a steroid example. Previously inaccessible lumiestrone-based difluoroboron complexes annulated at positions 16 and 17 of the D ring have been prepared. Such difluoroboron complexes may have large synthetic potential for heterofunctionalization of steroids at the D ring.

A series of stable iron(II) bis(dicarbollide) derivatives [8,8'-(RNHC(Et)HN)-3,3'-Fe(1,2-CBH)] (R = Pr, R = Ph, (CH)OH, (CH)OH, (CH)NMe) was prepared starting from FeCl or [FeCl(dppe)] and the corresponding -carboranyl amidines [10-RNHC(Et)HN-7,8-CBH]. In a similar way, the reactions of the oxonium derivatives of -carborane with FeCl in tetrahydrofuran in the presence of -BuOK lead to the corresponding stable oxonium derivatives iron(II) bis(dicarbollide) [8,8'-(RR'O)-3,3'-Fe(1,2-CBH)] (RR' = (CH), (CH)O(CH), (CH); R = R' = Et), which can be alternatively prepared by the reaction of the parent iron(II) bis(dicarbollide) with tetrahydrofuran or 1,4-dioxane in the presence of MeSO. The cyclic voltammetry studies of the synthesized iron(II) bis(dicarbollide) derivatives revealed that the introduction of amidinium and oxonium substituents leads to a significant increase in the Fe/Fe redox potential relative to the parent iron(II) bis(dicarbollide).

LnCl(THF) (Ln = Y, La ÷ Nd, Sm ÷ Lu) readily react with the tridentate 1,3,5-trimethyl-1,3,5-triazacyclohexane (Metach) ligand to form mono- or binuclear lanthanide trichloride complexes, depending on the stoichiometry of the reaction and the ionic radius of the metal: mononuclear pseudosandwich [LnCl(Metach)], (Ln = Y, La ÷ Ho) or binuclear complexes [LnCl(Metach)], or [LnCl(Metach)(THF)] (Ln = Sm, Tb). Detailed analysis of the NMR data of [LnCl(Metach)] complexes with paramagnetic lanthanide ions showed that their structures remained unchanged in the toluene solution. A series of isomorphous complexes [LnCl(Metach)(Py)] (Ln = La, Sm, Tb, Er, Lu; Py = pyridine) have been obtained by the recrystallization of either mononuclear or binuclear complexes from pyridine.

Rechargeable Li-CO battery represents a sustainable technology by virtue of CO recyclability and energy storage capability. Unfortunately, the sluggish mass transport and electron transfer in bulky high-crystalline discharge product of Li CO , severely hinder its practical capacity and rechargeability. Herein, a heterostructure of isolated metalloid Te atomic cluster anchored on N-doped carbon nanosheets is designed (Te @NCNS) as a metal-free cathode for Li-CO battery.

Our ability to understand the world around us hinges on our cognition. Theoretically, children's abilities improve with age; however, a lively discussion exists on how factors such as task domain, task interference, and task difficulty, as indexed mainly by relevant cues, affect cognitive performance. Practically, cognitive measures take a substantial amount of time to administer, which poses limitations for researchers in the field of psychology.

Most drugs are metabolized in the liver, which can lead to their activation or inactivation with a change in the parent compound pharmacology, as well as liver damage by active metabolites. Preclinical animal studies of drug safety do not always predict its effect on humans due to species specificity. Thus, for the rapid drug screening, and especially prodrugs, an in vitro system is required that allows predicting xenobiotic cytotoxicity with consideration of their metabolism in liver cells.

Although it is widely accepted that personal values of Self-Transcendence are a positive predictor of environmentalism, and Self-Enhancement values are a negative one, these results are not conclusive for all cultural contexts. Regarding political ideologies, research concludes that liberals tend to be more concerned about the environment than conservatives. However, this two-dimensional take on political ideologies does not grasp the diversity of political views, which could be achieved by focusing on political values.
