The optimal mode for ultrasonic welding (USW) of the "PEEK-ED (PEEK)-prepreg (PEI impregnated CF fabric)-ED (PEEK)-PEEK" lap joint was determined by artificial neural network (ANN) simulation, based on the sample of the experimental data expanded with the expert data set. The experimental verification of the simulation results showed that mode 10 (t = 900 ms, P = 1.7 atm, τ = 2000 ms) ensured the high strength properties and preservation of the structural integrity of the carbon fiber fabric (CFF).

We report the geometry, kinetic energy, and some optical properties of the 6,6,12-graphyne-based systems. We obtained the values of their binding energies and structural characteristics such as bond lengths and valence angles. Moreover, using nonorthogonal tight-binding molecular dynamics, we carried out a comparative analysis of the thermal stability of 6,6,12-graphyne-based isolated fragments (oligomer) and two-dimensional crystals constructed on its basis in a wide temperature range from 2500 to 4000 K.

The search for new anticancer drugs based on biogenic metals, which have weaker side effects compared to platinum-based drugs, remains an urgent task in medicinal chemistry. Titanocene dichloride, a coordination compound of fully biocompatible titanium, has failed in pre-clinical trials but continues to attract the attention of researchers as a structural framework for the development of new cytotoxic compounds. In this study, a series of titanocene (IV) carboxylate complexes, both new and those known from the literature, was synthesized, and their structures were confirmed by a complex of physicochemical methods and X-ray diffraction analysis (including one previously unknown structure based on perfluorinated benzoic acid).

The COHERENT Collaboration searched for scalar dark matter particles produced at the Spallation Neutron Source with masses between 1 and 220 MeV/c^{2} using a CsI[Na] scintillation detector sensitive to nuclear recoils above 9 keV_{nr}. No evidence for dark matter is found and we thus place limits on allowed parameter space. With this low-threshold detector, we are sensitive to coherent elastic scattering between dark matter and nuclei.

The phenomenon of phase change transition has been a fascinating research subject over decades due to a possibility of dynamically controlled materials properties, allowing the creation of optical devices with unique features. The present paper unravels the optical characteristics and terahertz (THz) dielectric permittivity of a novel phase change material (PCM), GeTe, prepared by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and their remarkable contrast in crystalline and amorphous states, in particular, a difference of 7 orders of magnitude in conductivity. The THz spectra were analyzed using the harmonic oscillator and Drude term.

A study of the properties of thermoradiationally modified polytetrafluoroethylene and its importance for use as the basis of polymer membranes is presented. The hydrogen permeability of a TRM-PTFE film was studied in comparison with an original PTFE film, and showed a three-fold decrease in hydrogen permeability. As-prepared mesoporous silicon nanoparticles, which were synthesized by electrochemical etching of crystalline silicon wafers followed by high-energy milling in water, were explored as a sonosensitizer in aqueous media under irradiation with low-intensity ultrasound at 0.88 MHz. The technological approach for the low-scale production of field-effect gas sensors as electronic components for use in non-lab ambient environments is described. In this work, in addition to the mechanical protection of a gas-sensitive structure, an emphasis was also placed on the very topical issue of thermal stabilization around the one temperature point, even if it is several degrees higher than the surrounding one, which will probably also be useful for any type of application for many types of field-effect sensors. Considerable attention was paid to the characterization of the results obtained by various invasive and non-invasive methods for diagnosing the manufactured construction.

This work presents the influence of post processing on morphology, thermal and electrical properties of indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films annealed at 400 °C in different atmospheres. The commercially available 170 nm thick ITO layers deposited on glass were used as a starting material. Elliptic flow measurements from two-, four-, and six-particle correlations are used to investigate flow fluctuations in collisions of U+U at sqrt[s_{NN}]=193 GeV, Cu+Au at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV and Au+Au spanning the range sqrt[s_{NN}]=11.5-200 GeV. The measurements show a strong dependence of the flow fluctuations on collision centrality, a modest dependence on system size, and very little if any, dependence on particle species and beam energy.
