This work presents a review of the therapeutic modalities and approaches for cancer treatment. A brief overview of the traditional treatment routes is presented in the introduction together with their reported side effects. A combination of the traditional approaches was reported to demonstrate an effective therapy until a few decades ago.

Declining water resources and their contamination with chemicals risk the aquatic environment. Therefore, this work was devoted to designing a magnetically recyclable photocatalyst suitable for water treatment, namely, a TiO /FeO@g-C composite. Different preparation conditions were investigated together with the corresponding characteristics.

This article contributes to the search for new therapeutic agents for treatment of diseases caused by bacterial pathogens. In this study, a new series of compounds incorporating numerous bioactive moieties such as quinazolin-2,4-dione, acylthiourea linkage, and/or five membered nitrogen heterocycles (pyrazole and oxazole) 2-5a-c was described to identify new antibacterial drug candidates inhibition of DNA gyrase enzyme. The precursor -['-(2-cyano-acetyl)-hydrazinocarbothioyl]-4-(2,4-dioxo-1,4-dihydro-2-quinazolin-3-yl)-benzamide 2 was prepared by treatment of compound 1 with ammonium thiocyanate and cyanoacetic acid hydrazide through multicomponent reaction (MCR).

In our previous investigations, a hard wood composite (HWC) was formulated by adding rice straw, as a filler to the recycled polystyrene foam waste at mass ratio (50/50) at 170 °C and pressed under 40 kPa. Here, the disposed HWC product as a model scrap was applied for production of porous carbons enclosed with graphene sheets. To attain this approach, HWC was hydrothermally carbonized (S1) followed by either post-heat treatment (S2) or potassium hydroxide (KOH, S3) activation at 750 °C for 2 hours.

Over the past few decades, there has been a growing concern regarding the fate and transport of pharmaceuticals, particularly antibiotics, as emerging contaminants in the environment. It has been proposed that the presence of antibiotics at concentrations typically found in wastewater can impact the dynamics of bacterial populations and facilitate the spread of antibiotic resistance. The efficiency of currently-used wastewater treatment technologies in eliminating pharmaceuticals is often insufficient, resulting in the release of low concentrations of these compounds into the environment.

For drug delivery applications, silica nanoemulsion encapsulated with organic compounds are becoming increasingly more desirable. Therefore, the emphasis of this research was on the synthesis of a new potent antifungal drug-like candidate (1,1'-((sulfonylbis(4,1-phenylene)bis(5-methyl-1-1,2,3-triazole-1,4-diyl))bis(3-(dimethylamino)prop-2-en-1-one), SBDMP), the chemical structure of which was confirmed on the basis of its spectral and microanalytical data. Then, silica nanoemulsion loaded with SBDMP was prepared using Pluronic F-68 as a potent surfactant.

Exploration of economical, highly efficient, and environment friendly non-noble-metal-based electrocatalysts is necessary for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER) but challenging for cost-effective water splitting. Herein, metal selenium nanoparticles (M = Ni, Co & Fe) are anchored on the surface of reduced graphene oxide and a silica template (rGO-ST) through a simple one-pot solvothermal method. The resulting electrocatalyst composite can enhance mass/charge transfer and promote interaction between water molecules and electrocatalyst reactive sites.

This study reports the preparation of a new material that can remove synthetic dyes and trace metals simultaneously. A new coumarin derivative was synthesized and its chemical structure was inferred from spectral data (FT-IR, H-NMR, C-NMR). Meanwhile, chitosan nanoparticles (CsNPs) were prepared then used as a carrier for two different concentrations of the coumarin derivative (C1@CsNPs and C2@CsNPs).

Oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) remains a pivotal factor in assessing the overall efficiency of energy conversion and storage technologies. A promising family of ORR electrocatalysts is mixed transition-metal oxides (MTMOs), which have recently gained a growing research interest. In this study, we developed MTMOs with different compositions (designated as A B O; A = Cu, B = Co or Mn) anchored on two different carbon supports (activated carbon Vulcan XC-72 (AC) and graphene (G)) for catalyzing ORR in neutral media.

The oxidation of allylic alcohols is challenging to perform in a chemo- as well as stereo-selective fashion at the expense of molecular oxygen using conventional chemical protocols. Here, we report the identification of a library of flavin-dependent oxidases including variants of the berberine bridge enzyme (BBE) analogue from (BBE15) and the 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural oxidase (HMFO) and its variants (V465T, V465S, V465T/W466H and V367R/W466F) for the enantioselective oxidation of -allylic alcohols. While and benzylic alcohols as well as certain sugars are well known to be transformed by flavin-dependent oxidases, -allylic alcohols have not been studied yet except in a single report.
