Sorption of Pu(VI) onto synthesized goethite under oxidizing and normal conditions was investigated, which revealed its pH dependence on different solid/liquid ratios. Pu speciation upon sorption on the solid phase was characterized via extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy, while that in solution was assessed using ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy and liquid-liquid extraction. The obtained results demonstrate differences in plutonium behavior in the studied systems.

Radiosensitivity to low and medium doses of X-ray radiation and the ability to induce a radiation adaptive response (RAR) of lymphocytes during in vitro irradiation of peripheral blood of patients with cancer were studied. The criterion for cytogenetic damage was the frequency of micronuclei (MN) in cytochalasin-blocked binucleate lymphocytes in culture. It was found that the spontaneous level of cytogenetic damage in the lymphocytes of patients was 2.

The spectrograph JA-1 used in experiments has a cylindrical mica crystal with dimensions of 50 × 40 mm2 and radius of curvature of 100 mm. Registration of spectra is performed on the photographic film UF-4 with dimensions of 30 × 10 mm2.

Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) has been employed to define single-phase samples within a series of synthesized compounds, which are further characterized by elemental analysis to ascertain the stoichiometry, revealing compositions of and . The management of lung cancer (LC) requires the analysis of a diverse spectrum of molecular targets, including kinase activating mutations in , (), and oncogenes, G12C substitutions, and , , and gene fusions. Administration of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) is based on the immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis of PD-L1 expression and determination of tumor mutation burden (TMB). Clinical characteristics of the patients, particularly age, gender and smoking history, significantly influence the probability of finding the above targets: for example, LC in young patients is characterized by high frequency of kinase gene rearrangements, while heavy smokers often have G12C mutations and/or high TMB.

A fullerene C conjugate (FA-PVP-C) with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as a biocompatible spacer and folic acid (FA) as a targeting ligand for tumor cells with increased expression of folate receptors (FR) was obtained. Using C NMR spectroscopy, FT-IR, UV-Vis spectrometry, fluorometry and thermal analysis, the formation of the conjugate was confirmed and the nature of the binding of its components was established.

A van der Waals telluride, NbFeTe, has been synthesized using chemical vapor transport reactions. The optimized synthetic conditions yield high-quality single crystals with a novel monoclinic crystal structure. Monoclinic NbFeTe demonstrates a (100) cleavage plane, bulk ferromagnetism below 87 K, and a metallic ground state-the necessary prerequisites for needed spintronics technologies.

Background: Protease 3C (3Cpro) is the only protease encoded in the human hepatitis A virus genome and is considered as a potential target for antiviral drugs due to its critical role in the viral life cycle. Myelin basic protein (MBP) is the second most abundant protein in the central nervous system and is responsible for structural maintenance of the myelin sheath covering axons. Previously, we showed that MBP has a more proactive role in the oligodendrocyte homeostasis, interacting with membrane-associated proteins, including integral membrane protein 2B (ITM2B or Bri2) that is associated with familial dementias. Here, we report that the molecular dynamics of the in silico-generated MBP-Bri2 complex revealed that MBP covers a significant portion of the Bri2 ectodomain, assumingly trapping the furin cleavage site, while the surface of the BRICHOS domain, which is responsible for the multimerization and activation of the Bri2 high-molecular-weight oligomer chaperone function, remains unmasked.
