The cytoplasmic localization of the SBR protein indicates that the nuclear export function is not the only function of this gene in RNA-binding protein SBR enriches the nucleus and cytoplasm of specific neurons and glial cells. In mutant males, the disturbance of medulla boundaries correlates with the defects of photoreceptor axons pathfinding, axon bundle individualization, and developmental neurodegeneration.

Analysis of regulatory networks is a powerful framework for identification and quantification of intracellular interactions. We introduce miRGTF-net, a novel tool for construction of miRNA-gene-TF networks. We consider multiple transcriptional and post-transcriptional interaction types, including regulation of gene and miRNA expression by transcription factors, gene silencing by miRNAs, and co-expression of host genes with their intronic miRNAs.

The composition and biological activity of various SRE is influenced by the extraction method, as well as the production technology used by the manufacturer, which can lead to different results of experimental and clinical studies. The mechanism of action of SRE, including hexane extract Permixon, is multicomponent, which combines an antiandrogenic effect, influence on neurogenic regulation of urinary tract function (-adrenoreceptors, M-holinoreceptors, vanilloid receptors), anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous actions.

Mesoporous hydroxyapatite (HA) and iron(III)-doped HA (Fe-HA) are attractive materials for biomedical, catalytic, and environmental applications. In the present study, the nanopowders of HA and Fe-HA with a specific surface area up to 194.5 m/g were synthesized by a simple precipitation route using iron oxalate as a source of Fe cations.

Within aggressive malignancies, there usually are the "hypoxic zones"-poorly vascularized regions where tumor cells undergo oxygen deficiency through inadequate blood supply. Besides, hypoxia may arise in tumors as a result of antiangiogenic therapy or transarterial embolization. Adapting to hypoxia, tumor cells acquire a hypoxia-resistant phenotype with the characteristic alterations in signaling, gene expression and metabolism.

Unlabelled: Prostate cancer (PCa) diagnosis based on patient urine analysis provides non-invasive and promising method as compared to biopsy and a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test. This study was conceived to investigate whether Integrin alpha V (ITGAV) protein is present in urine and assess the urinary ITGAV diagnostic potential for PCa.
Materials And Methods: Urinary ITGAV expression was determined by Western blot analysis and quantified by ELISA in urine from men with PCa (n = 47), benign prostate hyperplasia (n = 42) and age-matched controls (n = 22).

Background: Screening for breast cancer and cervical cancer in the newly independent states of the former Soviet Union is largely opportunistic, and countries in the region have among the highest cervical cancer incidence in the WHO European Region. We aimed to compare the stage-specific distributions and changes over time in breast cancer and cervical cancer incidence in the newly independent states of the former Soviet Union.
Methods: We collected breast cancer and cervical cancer incidence data from official statistics from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan for the years 2008-17 by tumour, node, metastasis (TNM) stage, and by age where population-based cancer registry data were available.

Prostate cancer (PC) is one of the most common cancers among men worldwide, and advanced PCs, such as locally advanced PC (LAPC) and castration-resistant PC (CRPC), present the greatest challenges in clinical management. Current indicators have limited capacity to predict the disease course; therefore, better prognostic markers are greatly needed. In this study, we performed a bioinformatic analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) datasets, including RNA-Seq data from the prostate adenocarcinoma (PRAD; = 55) and West Coast Dream Team - metastatic CRPC (WCDT-MCRPC; = 84) projects, to evaluate the transcriptome changes associated with progression-free survival (PFS) for LAPC and CRPC, respectively.

Radio- and chemoresistance of cancer stem cells (CSCs) is considered as one of the possible causes of adverse results of chemoradiotherapy for various malignancies, including cervical cancer. However, little is known about quantitative changes in the CSC subpopulation in the course of treatment and mechanisms for individual response of CSCs to therapy. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the association of radiation response of cervical CSCs with clinical and morphological parameters of disease and features of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection.

Head and neck paragangliomas (HNPGLs) are rare neuroendocrine tumors that have a high degree of heritability and are predominantly associated with mutations in ten genes, such as , and . Elucidating the mutation prevalence is crucial for the development of genetic testing. In this study, we identified pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants in the main susceptibility genes in 102 Russian patients with HNPGLs (82 carotid and 23 vagal paragangliomas) using whole exome sequencing.

The gene (neuropilin and tolloid-like 2) encodes a protein that acts as an accessory subunit of kainate receptors and is predominantly expressed in the brain. Upregulation of has been observed in several tumors; however, its role in tumorigenesis remains unclear. In this study, we investigated expression in breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer using quantitative PCR (qPCR), as well as the effect of shRNA-mediated silencing on transcriptome changes in colorectal cancer cells.

The phenomenon of multiphase survival curves found in drosophila is confirmed in experiments on daphnia. Mathematical modeling showed that the multiphase nature of the daphnia survival curves reflects abrupt changes in the intensity of death of crustaceans during the transition from phase to phase. In intact daphnia there is no phase of a sharp increase in mortality observed at an early age in drosophila.

Background: Clinical observations demonstrated that COVID-19 related pneumonia is often accompanied by hematological and coagulation abnormalities including lymphopenia, thrombocytopenia, and prolonged prothrombin time. The evaluation of laboratory findings including coagulation and inflammation parameters may represent a promising approach for early determination of COVID-19 severity.
Methods And Materials: In the present study, we aimed to identify laboratory parameters present upon admission in patients with COVID-19 related viral pneumonia and associated with an early in-hospital development of refractory respiratory failure or severe acute respiratory distress syndrome requiring treatment in an intensive care unit.

Considering the growth of antibiotic resistance, the search for alternative treatments is relevant. Current data about bacteriophages and mechanism of their action, difference of virulent and temperate phages is given, as well as mechanisms of bacteria resistance to phages and ways of its overcoming.

Epigenetic alterations represent promising therapeutic targets in cancer treatment. Recently it was revealed that small molecules have the potential to act as microRNA silencers. Capacity to bind the discrete stem-looped structure of pre-miR-21 and prevent its maturation opens opportunities to utilize such compounds for the prevention of initiation, progression, and chemoresistance of cancer.
