Anxiety and anxiety disorders are important modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular and other common chronic non-communicable diseases and complications. Anxiety disorders significantly reduce the motivation and adherence of patients to lifestyle changes and drug therapy, significantly worsen the quality of life, and increase the risk of disability and the costs of the health care system. The issues of diagnosis and therapy of anxiety are relevant for the practice of physicians and cardiologists due to the high incidence of anxiety disorders in patients with cardiovascular diseases, a decrease in the quality of life and an increase in adverse outcomes, and also due to the insufficient awareness of the risks associated with the psycho-emotional state of patients.

Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) participate in various biological processes, including regulating transcription and sustaining genome 3D organization. Here, we present a method termed Red-C that exploits proximity ligation to identify contacts with the genome for all RNA molecules present in the nucleus. Using Red-C, we uncovered the RNA-DNA interactome of human K562 cells and identified hundreds of ncRNAs enriched in active or repressed chromatin, including previously undescribed RNAs.

Article Synopsis
  • Atrial fibrillation (AF) presents increasing health challenges, and the use of cryoballoon (CB) versus radiofrequency (RF) for pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) has shown differences in efficacy between sexes.
  • A study combined data from 18 research trials and found that CB was more effective for men in preventing AF recurrence, while women showed no significant difference in efficacy between the two methods.
  • Overall, CB resulted in shorter procedure times for both genders and did not affect complication rates, suggesting a need for advancements to improve outcomes for women.

Current evidence from case/control studies indicates that genetic risk for psychiatric disorders derives primarily from numerous common variants, each with a small phenotypic impact. The literature describing apparent segregation of bipolar disorder (BP) in numerous multigenerational pedigrees suggests that, in such families, large-effect inherited variants might play a greater role. To identify roles of rare and common variants on BP, we conducted genetic analyses in 26 Colombia and Costa Rica pedigrees ascertained for bipolar disorder 1 (BP1), the most severe and heritable form of BP.

The last two or three decades in the epidemiology of nutrition empirical approaches to assessing the diet of the population are increasingly being used. However, in Russian studies, these approaches are used extremely rarely, which may be due to insufficient knowledge of the essence, methodological aspects and the field of application of posterior dietary patterns. In this regard, the aim of this review was to highlight the essence, methods and main results of using empirical approaches to assessing the diet of the population.
