Background: Offspring hypertension arising from adverse maternal conditions can be mitigated through dietary nutritional supplementation, including resveratrol. Previously, we identified derivatives of resveratrol butyrate ester (RBE), specifically 3,4'-di-O-butanoylresveratrol (ED2) and 3-O-butanoylresveratrol (ED4), demonstrating their superior antioxidant capabilities compared to RBE itself. This study sought to assess the protective impact of maternal supplementation with ED2 or ED4 on offspring hypertension in a rat model subjected to a high-fructose (HF) diet during pregnancy and lactation.

Per/polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are ubiquitous, bioaccumulative, and recalcitrant contaminants, posing global exposure and health risks. The effects of chemical structures on toxicities and the mechanisms of their obesogenic effects were largely unclear. This study used the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans to assess the impact of long-term exposure to different PFASs (PFNA, PFOSA, PFBS, PFHxS, 6:2 FTS, 4:2 FTS, PFOA, and PFOS) on growth and lipid metabolism and discussed the obesogenic mechanisms of selected PFASs.

Background: International Classification of Diseases codes are widely used to describe diagnosis information, but manual coding relies heavily on human interpretation, which can be expensive, time consuming, and prone to errors. With the transition from the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, to the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10), the coding process has become more complex, highlighting the need for automated approaches to enhance coding efficiency and accuracy. Inaccurate coding can result in substantial financial losses for hospitals, and a precise assessment of outcomes generated by a natural language processing (NLP)-driven autocoding system thus assumes a critical role in safeguarding the accuracy of the Taiwan diagnosis related groups (Tw-DRGs).

Marine debris substantially threatens the world's marine ecosystems, national economies, and human well-being, particularly those living in the coastal areas. Among the types of marine debris, abandoned, lost, and discarded fishing gears (ALDFGs) are the most challenging, contributing substantially to marine pollution. The Sulu-Sulawesi Seas, a region rich in biodiversity but heavily impacted by fishing activities and ALDFGs, is the focus of this study.

This study introduces a new approach to optimizing graphene oxide (GO) properties using liquid-phase plasma treatment in a microenvironment. Our innovation exploits atomic force microscopy (AFM) cantilever frequency tracking to monitor mass variations in GO, which are indicative of surface oxidation-reduction processes or substituent doping (boron/nitrogen). Complementary in situ Raman spectroscopy has observed D/G band shifts, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) determined the C/O ratio and B/N doping levels pre- and post-treatment, confirming chemical tuning to GO.
