Levosimendan is a medication with a range of pharmacological effects, making it appropriate for use in several clinical settings, including advanced heart failure with pulmonary hypertension, cardiogenic shock, and acute heart failure. This case report details the perioperative management of a male in their 40s with a complex medical history, including primary hypoparathyroidism, cirrhosis, and severe pulmonary hypertension, who underwent urgent cadaveric donor liver transplantation. Information available on the perioperative use of levosimendan is still insufficient to be able to regulate behaviors that can guide its management on a regular basis.

Objective: We aimed to conduct an umbrella review to summarize the existing evidence regarding the prevalence of peri-ictal psychiatric manifestations (PM) in people with epilepsy (PWE) including pre-ictal, ictal, and postictal stages.
Methods: Databases were searched up to June 2023 for systematic reviews (SR) of observational studies that included patients with epilepsy peri-ictal PM. Data selection, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment (with the AMSTAR-2 instrument) were performed by two independent reviewers.

Corpus callosotomy is a therapeutic approach for drug-resistant epilepsy, with positive outcomes observed in managing atonic seizures. Despite a decline in its usage, radiosurgical callosotomy remains a viable option for drug-resistant epilepsy due to its low risks of post-radiation neoplasia, albeit not with exceptions. Brain radionecrosis is characterized by tissue death and vascular endothelial damage following the procedure.

Globally, there is growing concern over the presence of lead (Pb) in foods because it is a heavy metal with several toxic effects on human health. However, monitoring studies have not been conducted in Mexico. In this study, we estimated the concentrations of Pb in the most consumed foods and identified those that exceeded the maximum limits (MLs) for Pb in foods established by the International Standards.

Background: Gliomas account for 30% of primary brain tumors in adults, and despite the scientific progress in the field, recurrence is prevalent. Glioma Stem Cells (GSCs) can generate tumor cells in vivo and in vitro and they are associated with treatment resistance, tumor progression, and recurrence. Furthermore, the expression of SOX transcription factors (SOX1, SOX2, SOX9) in these cells is responsible for maintaining an oncogenic genotype and is associated with an aggressive tumor phenotype.

Stereoelectroencephalography-guided radiofrequency thermocoagulation (SEEG-guided RF-TC) is a treatment option for focal drug-resistant epilepsy. In previous studies, this technique has shown seizure reduction by ≥50% in 50% of patients at 1 year. However, the relationship between the location of the ablation within the epileptogenic network and clinical outcomes remains poorly understood.

. The primary goal of this research is to demonstrate the feasibility of radiation-induced acoustic imaging (RAI) as a volumetric dosimetry tool for ultra-high dose rate FLASH electron radiotherapy (FLASH-RT) in real time. This technology aims to improve patient outcomes by accurate measurements ofdose delivery to target tumor volumes.

Erotomania (de Clérambault's syndrome) refers to the delusional belief that another person, usually socially unreachable, is in love with the holder of the delusion. The occurrence of erotomania in Frontotemporal Dementia has rarely been reported. We present the unique case of a 59-year-old woman with a strong family history of early-onset dementia in whom erotomania was the initial manifestation that led to a diagnosis of definite Behavioral Variant of Frontotemporal Dementia with a pathogenic missense mutation in the gene.

Multidrug resistance (MDR) commonly leads to cancer treatment failure because cancer cells often expel chemotherapeutic drugs using ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters, which reduce drug levels within the cells. This study investigated the clinical characteristics and single nucleotide variant (SNV) in , , , , and , and their association with mortality in pediatric patients with central nervous system tumors (CNST). Using TaqMan probes, a real-time polymerase chain reaction genotyped 15 SNPs in 111 samples.

In our study, we document the case of a 48-year-old patient who presented at our clinic with various neurological disturbances. Magnetic Resonance Imaging revealed the presence of an intraventricular meningioma located in the body of the left lateral ventricle measuring 60 mm in diameter. This tumor was classified as a giant meningioma, accompanied by a significant amount of digitiform-type edema.

This comprehensive study analyzes 346 surgically treated intracranial aneurysms, emphasizing the importance of understanding risk factors and prevalent characteristics in patients. Intracranial aneurysms, primarily of the saccular or berry type, significantly contribute to nontraumatic subarachnoid hemorrhages and demonstrate a rising incidence due to advances in imaging techniques. The study highlights a gender discrepancy in aneurysm occurrence and a higher prevalence in individuals over 30 years old.

Gastric cancer remains a significant global health challenge with varied survival rates, emphasizing the need for research into effective surgical treatments. In this retrospective study, we compared the 72-month overall and disease-free survival between laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG) and laparoscopic-assisted gastrectomy (AG) in a cohort of 139 patients treated for gastric cancer. The analysis revealed that patients undergoing LG exhibited a significantly higher overall survival rate at 72 months compared to those undergoing AG.

Remitting-Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) and Neuro-Behçet Disease (NBD) are two chronic neuro-inflammatory disorders leading to brain damage and disability in young adults. Herein, we investigated in these patients the cytokine response by beads-based multiplex assays during the early stages of these disorders. Cytokine investigations were carried out on treatment-naive patients suffering from RRMS and NBD recruited at the first episode of clinical relapse.
