Identification of thermostable and alkaline xylanases from different fungal and bacterial species have gained an interest for the researchers because of its biotechnological relevance in many industries, such as pulp, paper, and bioethanol. In this study, we have identified and characterized xylanases from the genome of the thermophilic fungus of Aspergillus fumigatus by in silico analysis. Genome data mining revealed that the A fumigatus genome has six xylanase genes that belong to GH10, GH11, GH43 glycoside hydrolase families.

Background And Objectives: Accurate segmentation of critical tissues from a brain MRI is pivotal for characterization and quantitative pattern analysis of the human brain and thereby, identifies the earliest signs of various neurodegenerative diseases. To date, in most cases, it is done manually by the radiologists. The overwhelming workload in some of the thickly populated nations may cause exhaustion leading to interruption for the doctors, which may pose a continuing threat to patient safety.

Cheap production of glucose is the current challenge for the production of cheap bioethanol. Ideal protein engineering approaches are required for improving the efficiency of the members of the cellulase, the enzyme complex involved in the saccharification process of cellulose. An attempt was made to improve the efficiency of the cellobiohydrolase (Cel6A), the important member of the cellulase isolated from Aspergillus fumigatus (AfCel6A).

The efficient dispersion of carbon nanotubes in a given polymer matrix remains an open challenge. Unless addressed, the full potential of carbon nanotubes towards influencing electronic properties of a composite is far from being well understood. Although several reports are available in an open forum that addresses this challenge using various strategies, a mechanistic insight is still lacking.

Synchronization and chimera are examples of collective behavior observed in an ensemble of coupled nonlinear oscillators. Recent studies have focused on their discovery in systems with least possible number of oscillators. Here we present an experimental study revealing the synchronization route to weak chimera via quenching, clustering, and chimera states in a single system of four coupled candle-flame oscillators.

Thanks to the advent of the random laser, new light applications have opened up, ranging from biophotonic to security devices. Here, by using the well-known but unexplored light-harvesting bio-pigment of butterfly pea (, CT) flower extract, generation of continuous-wave (CW) random lasing at ∼660 nm has been demonstrated. Furthermore, a wavelength tunability of ∼30 nm in the lasing emission was obtained by utilizing the resonance energy transfer (RET) mechanism in a gain medium with a binary mixture of CT extract and a commercially available methylene blue (MB) dye as the gain medium.

Recently, metal nanostructures have been found to be capable of recognizing small changes in their surrounding environment, which can be utilized as significant sensing tools. In this study, we demonstrated colorimetric sensing of pH by gold nanostructures (GNs) using a simple smartphone. An indigenously developed Android app based on the CIELab 1931 analysis, which could run in a smartphone, was used for the precise determination of the pH value of liquid media.

Development of advanced biofuels such as bioethanol and biodiesel from renewable resources is critical for the earth's sustainable management and to slow down the global climate change by partial replacement of gasoline and diesel in the transport sector. Being a diverse group of aquatic micro-organisms, algae are the most prominent resources on the planet, distributed in an aquatic system, a potential source of bioenergy, biomass and secondary metabolites. Microalgae-based biofuel production is widely accepted as non-food fuel sources and better choice for achieving goals of incorporation of a clean fuel source into the transportation sector.

Conducting polymer composites containing ferromagnetic grafted-graphene derivatives are already appreciated for their lightweight, flexibility, and cost effectiveness in terms of microwave absorption. To further leverage the said properties of this wonder material, we propose a highly efficient replacement by blending conducting multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) and FeCo anchored covalent cross-linked reduced graphene oxide (rGO) with poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF). Interconnected conducting network of MWCNTs introduces higher electrical conductivity in the blend which is essential for microwave absorption.
