Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) still causes death in elderly and immunocompromised individuals, for whom the sustainability of the vaccine response may be limited. Antiviral treatments, such as remdesivir or molnupiravir, have demonstrated limited clinical efficacy. Nirmatrelvir, an acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) major protease inhibitor, is clinically effective but has been associated with viral rebound and antiviral resistance.

The concept of "platform technology" gained prominence after the Ebola outbreak and since then has become essential to international vaccine (prophylactic vaccines against infectious disease) regulatory frameworks. Its significance was further amplified during the COVID-19 pandemic, where platform technology enabled the rapid development and approval of vaccines, optimizing regulatory processes, and enhancing global public health responses. As a transformative tool, platform technology streamlines product development, allowing for the reduction in the number of clinical trials or exemption from certain clinical trials and facilitating cross-referencing in regulatory submissions.

Background: The Vero cell rabies vaccine is currently the most widely used human rabies vaccine. However, owing to the presence of residual host cell DNA (HCD) in the final product and the potential tumorigenicity of the DNA of high-passage Vero cells, the WHO not only sets a limit on the number of times cells used in production can be passaged, but also imposes strict requirements on the amount of residual HCD in the final vaccine product.
Objectives: To systematically reduce the HCD level in the final vaccine product, multiple purification steps are included in the vaccine production process.

This paper proposes a registration approach rooted in point cloud clustering and segmentation, named Clustering and Segmentation Normal Distribution Transform (CSNDT), with the aim of improving the scope and efficiency of point cloud registration. Traditional Normal Distribution Transform (NDT) algorithms face challenges during their initialization phase, leading to the loss of local feature information and erroneous mapping. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a method of adaptive cell partitioning.

(1) Background: Fetal chromosomal examination is a critical component of modern prenatal testing. Traditionally, maternal serum biomarkers such as free β-human chorionic gonadotropin (Free β-HCG) and pregnancy-associated plasma protein A (PAPPA) have been employed for screening, achieving a detection rate of approximately 90% for fetuses with Down syndrome, albeit with a false positive rate of 5%. While amniocentesis remains the gold standard for the prenatal diagnosis of chromosomal abnormalities, including Down syndrome and Edwards syndrome, its invasive nature carries a significant risk of complications, such as infection, preterm labor, or miscarriage, occurring at a rate of 7 per 1000 procedures.

We describe a modification of a previously described measurement-analysis protocol to determine the intrinsic properties of triaxial accelerometers by using a measurement protocol based on angular stepwise rotation in the Earth's gravitational field. This study was conducted with MEMS triaxial accelerometers that were co-integrated in four consumer-grade wireless microsensors. The measurements were carried out on low-cost rotation tables in different laboratories in different countries to simulate the reproducibility environment encountered in inter-comparisons of calibration capabilities.

The microstructural features of polycrystals determine numerous properties, whereas the evolution of crystallographic texture is responsible for the anisotropy of particular properties. Therefore, it is of crucial importance to find proper quantitative indicators, which reflect the nature of microstructure and texture characteristics. This is partially performed by the assessment of the average grain size and texture intensity that provide basic information on the microstructural features evolved; however, often, the basic quantitative indicators are not capable of revealing the complete microstructural state especially when the system is highly heterogeneous.

The evolution of man on Earth took place under conditions of constant exposure to background ionizing radiation (IR). From this point of view, it would be reasonable to hypothesize the existence of adaptive mechanisms that enable the human organism to safely interact with IR at levels approximating long-term natural background levels. In some situations, the successful operation of molecular mechanisms of protection against IR is observed at values significantly exceeding the natural background level, for example, in cancer cells.

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) is a treatment method that involves reopening narrowed arteries with a balloon catheter that delivers a cylindrical, mesh-shaped implant device to the site of the stenosis. Currently, by applying a coating to a bare metal stent (BMS) surface to improve biocompatibility, the main risks after PCI, such as restenosis and thrombosis, are reduced while maintaining the basic requirements for the mechanical behavior of the stent itself. In this work, for the first time, the development and optimization process of the spatial structure of the Co-Cr stent (L-605) with a graphene-based coating using cold-wall chemical vapor deposition (CW-CVD) to ensure uniform coverage of the implant was attempted.
