TMPRSS2::ETS fusions occur in about half of the prostate adenocarcinomas and are generally considered characteristic and even diagnostic of this tumour. Despite this fact, the frequency of this fusion is not well established in other tumour types. Incidental identification of a TMPRSS2::ETV1 fusion in a thymic squamous cell carcinoma prompted us to assess 1758 solid tumours by next-generation sequencing panel for TMPRSS2::ETS fusions, including 1690 non-prostatic malignancies.

Background: Previous results from this trial showed longer overall survival after treatment with nivolumab plus ipilimumab or with nivolumab monotherapy than with ipilimumab monotherapy in patients with advanced melanoma. Given that patients with advanced melanoma are living longer than 7.5 years, longer-term data were needed to address new clinically relevant questions.

Genetic alterations are well known to be related to the pathogenesis and prognosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Some miRNA expression dysregulations have previously been described in the context of cancer development including thyroid carcinoma. In our study, we performed original molecular diagnostics on tissue samples related to our own patients.

Approximately 90% of thyroid cancers are differentiated thyroid cancers (DTCs), originating from follicular epithelial cells. Out of these, 90% are papillary thyroid cancer (PTC), and 10% are follicular thyroid cancer (FTC). The standard care procedure for PTC includes surgery, followed by radioiodine (RAI) ablation and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) suppressive therapy.

Synovialosarcoma is a mesenchymal tumor with soft tissue predilection, metastasizing to various organs, including the lung. Primary pulmonary involvement is rare and requires histological examination for confirmation. In early stages, the treatment is surgical followed by radiotherapy to avoid recurrence, while there's no consensus in chemotherapy.

Neovascularization is implicated in the pathology of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), diabetic retinopathy (DR), and age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which are the leading causes of blindness worldwide. In our work, we analyzed how heme released during hemorrhage affects hypoxic response and neovascularization. Our retrospective clinical analysis demonstrated, that hemorrhage was associated with more severe retinal neovascularization in ROP patients.

Primary hepatic leiomyosarcoma (PHL) is a rare malignant tumor, which originates from smooth muscles. The imaging features are nonspecific and the diagnosis is often delayed until the tumor reaches a large size, which leads often to a dismal prognosis. We report a case of a 46-year-old male patient who was complaining about abdominal pain for 2 months.

Breast hamartoma is a rare benign growth often overlooked and consequently not well-documented, mainly due to insufficient recognition of its distinct clinical and histological features. Increasing awareness about this relatively obscure benign condition is crucial because it can mimic both benign and malignant breast tumors clinically. Its association with breast cancer is infrequently documented in medical literature.

Endogenously formed reactive molecules, such as lipid peroxides, 4-hydroxynonenal, methylglyoxal and other reactive oxygen species, can have major effects on cells. Accumulation of these molecules is counteracted by antioxidant enzymes, including the glutathione (GSH) and thioredoxin (Trx) systems, in turn regulated by the KEAP1/NRF2 system. Receptor tyrosine kinases (RTK) and their counteracting protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTP) are also modulated through redox regulation of PTP activities.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death globally. Metastasis is the most common reason of mortality in which hypoxia is suggested to have a pivotal role. However, the effect of hypoxia on the metastatic potential and migratory activity of cancer cells is largely unexplored and warrants detailed scientific investigations.

The imperative need for sensitive and precise tools is underscored in cancer diagnostics, with biomarkers playing a pivotal role in facilitating early detection and tumor diagnosis. Despite their classical pathological classification, testicular tumors lack valuable markers, emphasizing the necessity to identify and apply serum tumor markers in clinical management. Unfortunately, existing biomarkers exhibit limited sensitivities and specificities.

Most epidemiological studies conclude that Hungary faces the most severe burden in association with this disease. However, for various reasons estimates and population-based studies show discrepancies.

: Radiography is an essential and low-cost diagnostic method in pulmonary medicine that is used for the early detection and monitoring of lung diseases. An adequate and consistent image quality (IQ) is crucial to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective patient management. This pilot study evaluates the feasibility and effectiveness of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)'s remote and automated quality control (QC) methodology, which has been tested in multiple imaging centers.

Introduction: Fertility-sparing treatment (FST) for patients with cervical cancer intends to achieve oncologic outcomes comparable to those after radical treatment while maximizing reproductive outcomes, including the ability to conceive and minimizing the risk of prematurity.
Methodology: International multicentre retrospective FERTISS study focused on patients treated with FST analysed timing of FST relative to pregnancy, conception attempts and methods, abortion rates, prophylactic procedures reducing the risk of severe prematurity, pregnancy duration, and delivery mode.
Results: Of the 733 patients treated at 44 centres in 13 countries, 49.

The addition of metastasis-directed radiotherapy (MDRT) to immunotherapy in patients with advanced urothelial carcinoma (aUC) has shown promising results. We report the real-world data from the ARON-2 study (NCT05290038) on the impact of conventional (CRT) or stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) on the outcome of aUC patients receiving pembrolizumab after platinum-based-chemotherapy. Medical records of 837 patients were reviewed from 60 institutions in 20 countries.

In recent years, antibody conjugates have evolved as state-of-the-art options for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. During site-selective antibody conjugation, incomplete rebridging of antibody chains limits the homogeneity of conjugates and calls for the development of new rebridging agents. Herein, we report a dibromopyrazine derivative optimized to reach highly homogeneous conjugates rapidly and with high conversion on rebridging of trastuzumab, even providing a feasible route for antibody modification in acidic conditions.

Targeted tumour therapy has proved to be an efficient alternative to overcome the limitations of conventional chemotherapy. The upregulation of the bombesin receptor 2 (BB2) in several malignancies and the advantages offered by peptide drug conjugates over antibody drug conjugates in terms of production and tumour targeting motivated us to synthesise and test bombesin conjugates armed with the tubulin binder monomethyl auristatin E. The widely used Val-Cit-PABC was initially included as cathepsin cleavable self-immolative linker for the release of the free drug.

Background And Purpose: Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is routinely used in radiotherapy to localize target volume. The aim of our study was to determine the biological effects of CBCT dose compared to subsequent therapeutic dose by using in vitro chromosome dosimetry.
Materials And Methods: Peripheral blood samples from five healthy volunteers were irradiated in two phantoms (water filled in-house made cylindrical, and Pure Image CTDI phantoms) with 6 MV FFF X-ray photons, the dose rate was 800 MU/min and the absorbed doses ranged from 0.

Background: The aim was to elaborate a predictive model to find responders for the corticosteroid switch (from prednisolone to dexamethasone) at the first prostate-specific antigen (PSA) progression (≥25% increase) during abiraterone acetate (AA) treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients.
Methods: If PSA has decreased (≥25%) after switch, patients were considered responders. Logistic regression of 19 dichotomized parameters from routine laboratory and patients' history was used to find the best model in a cohort of 67 patients.
