Auditory/visual hallucinations and perceptual anomalies are one of the core symptoms experienced by patients with schizophrenia. Studies have implicated lateral occipital cortex (LOC) as one of the areas to be aberrantly functioning in schizophrenia, possibly associated with the auditory/visual symptoms of schizophrenia. We aimed to assess the incremental value of schizophrenia polygenic risk score (PgRS) and resting-state functional brain connectivity (rsFC) when added to clinical data in predicting the six-week response to oral risperidone (Risperdal) in schizophrenia. Fifty-seven, 54, and 43 individuals in a group of never-before-treated first-episode schizophrenia had good quality whole-genome sequencing (10x), rsFC, and both genomic and rsFC data, respectively, at baseline. Symptom severity ratings were obtained at baseline and six-weeks of oral risperidone (Risperdal) treatment.

Background: Tuberculomas are prevalent in developing countries and demonstrate variable signals on MRI resulting in the overlap of the conventional imaging phenotype with other entities including glioma and brain metastasis. An accurate MRI diagnosis is important for the early institution of anti-tubercular therapy, decreased patient morbidity, mortality, and prevents unnecessary neurosurgical excision.
