Chemotherapy is the most common cancer treatment, and metallic anticancer compounds have generated increasing amounts of interest since the discovery of cisplatin. More recently, scientists have focused on ruthenium-based compounds as alternatives for platinum compounds, which seem like ideal therapeutic anticancer alternatives to platinum derivatives. The present study aims to assess whether one or more of three Ruthenium-based nanocomposites, namely Ru+Lysine+CTAB (RCTL), Ru+CTAB (RCT), and Ru+Lysine (RL) exhibit pronounced anti-proliferative properties against different cancer cells.

Adhesive dentistry has made it feasible to design restorations with high aesthetic qualities and little invasiveness. However, the freshly cut dentin after the tooth preparation needs to be sealed to prevent its contaminations, bacterial leakage, and hypersensitivity. Consequently, the immediate dentin sealing (IDS) method has been advised.

Cancer is a deadly illness with a convoluted pathogenesis. The most prevalent restrictions that frequently result in treatment failure for cancer chemotherapy include lack of selectivity, cytotoxicity, and multidrug resistance. Thus, considerable efforts have been focused in recent years on the establishment of a modernistic sector termed nano-oncology, which offers the option of employing nanoparticles (NPs) with the objective of detecting, targeting, and treating malignant disorders.

Improved sperm motility is necessary for successful sperm passage through the female genital system, efficacious fertilization, and a greater probability of pregnancy. By stimulating the mitochondrial respiratory chain, low-level laser photobiomodulation has been shown to increase sperm motility and velocity. The respiratory chain in mitochondria is the primary site of action for cytochrome c oxidase because it can absorb light in the visible and infrared ranges.

Beetroot extract@chitosan nanocomposite as a promising approach towards cancer therapy.

Int J Biol Macromol

March 2024

National Institute of Laser Enhanced Sciences (NILES), Department of Laser Applications in Metrology, Photochemistry, and Agriculture (LAMPA), Cairo University, 12613 Giza, Egypt. Electronic address:

The exceptional antioxidant properties of beetroot (BR) and the cancer antiproliferative effects of chitosan nanoparticles (CS NP) have led to the synthesis of a BR@CS nanocomposite (NC) in this study. The novel BR@CS NC was applied to human epithelial colorectal adenocarcinoma (Caco-2), human epithelial ductal breast carcinoma (T-47D), and human epithelial lung carcinoma (A549) cells. SEM characterization of CS NP revealed a variety of particle shapes ranging from 20 to 58 nm in diameter.
