Article Synopsis
  • This study investigated the effects of curcumin and zinc compounds on the quality of ram sperm after thawing following cryopreservation.
  • Various concentrations of curcumin, zinc chloride, zinc oxide nanoparticles, and Curc-loaded zinc oxide nanoparticles were tested using a Tris-base extender on ram semen samples.
  • Results indicated that 1 µg/mL of Curc-co-ZnO-NPs significantly improved sperm viability, motility, and integrity, while reducing malondialdehyde levels and abnormalities after thawing.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most prevalent malignancy in females worldwide. Mutations in the DNA repair pathway genes contribute to a significant increase in BC risk. The present study aimed to assess the frequency of polymorphisms in BRCA1, ATM, and CHEK2 genes and their association with BC susceptibility in the Kurdish population from the West of Iran.

Efficient strategies to promote microvascularization in vascular tissue engineering, a central priority in regenerative medicine, are still scarce; nano- and micro-sized aggregates and spheres or beads harboring primitive microvascular beds are promising methods in vascular tissue engineering. Capillaries are the smallest type and in numerous blood vessels, which are distributed densely in cardiovascular system. To mimic this microvascular network, specific cell components and proangiogenic factors are required.

Studies on the blood of patients with prostate cancer using Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and corona protein size changes have shown that this test is highly specific and sensitive, but this method has not been studied in Iran, and therefore this study intends to perform this procedure using gold nanoparticles in prostate cancer detection. Blood samples of 60 male subjects aged 40-90 years were collected from 20 healthy, 20 benign and 20 prostate cancer patients. Optical scattering changes were measured by the level of gold nanoparticles mixed with these sera, and the responses were compared with the PSA index (Prostate Specific Antigen) of the subjects.

The objective of this study was to examine the different concentrations of antipain and trehalose combination on post-thawed quality of ram semen cryopreserved in tris extender. Ejaculates were collected from four rams using the artificial vagina, pooled at 37°C and diluted with (A  Tre : antipain 0 μM and trehalose 0 mM (Control); A  Tre ; A  Tre ; A  Tre ; A  Tre ; A  Tre ; A  Tre ; A  Tre and A  Tre ). Diluted semen samples were gradually cooled down from 37 to 5°C in a cold cabinet; then, they were loaded into 0.
