The current definition of primary particulate matter (PM) encompasses filterable PM (FPM) and condensable PM (CPM), which are evaluated using two distinct conventional measurement methods: cooling and dilution. While the cooling method exclusively considers the homogenous formation of CPM, the dilution method, closer to real-world conditions, neglects FPM characterization. To overcome this limitation, we propose a doubled-dilution system that enables the parallel characterization of both FPM and primary PM without diverting FPM from the CPM formation pathway.

Pine needle, pine bark, and soil samples were collected from various regions in South Korea, considering the suitability of vegetation samples as passive samplers. A total of 27 organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) were analyzed using a gas chromatograph/high-resolution mass spectrometer (GC/HRMS). PHMG exposure suppressed interferon regulatory factor 3 (IRF3) activation and interferon-β (IFN-β) expression induced by a cGAS agonist or a STING agonist in human monocytic cells (THP-1), which are known to transition to alveolar macrophages during pulmonary fibrosis development. As part of the National Water Management Basic Plan, this study conducted research to identify priority management watersheds in the Yeongsan River basin to respond to changes in water environmental conditions and improve water quality. Analysis of water quality over the past decade revealed that points located in the middle and lower of the Yeongsan River exceeded the target water quality standards. As based on the results, pollution sources and loads indicated that the W-1 watershed, classified as urban areas, exhibited high levels in residential, industrial, and urban landuse characteristics, whereas the W-6 watershed, classified as rural areas, showed high levels in livestock farming, aquaculture, and agricultural landuse (wet and dry filed) categories.
