These research priorities encompass the entire people-centred journey, covering prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of antimicrobial-resistant infections, in addition to addressing the overarching knowledge gaps in AMR epidemiology, burden and drivers, policies and regulations, and awareness and education.

The infectivity of Leishmania is determined by its ability to invade and evade host and its thriving capacity within the macrophage. Our study revealed the role of Leishmania donovani mevalonate kinase (MVK), an enzyme of mevalonate pathway in visceral leishmaniasis pathogenesis. Peritoneal exudate cells (PEC)-derived macrophages from BALB/c mice were infected with wild type (WT), MVK over expressing (MVK OE) and knockdown (KD) parasites and MVK OE parasites were found to be more infective than WT and MVK KD parasites.

Carbapenem-resistant significant members of Acinetobacter calcoaceticus-Acinetobacter baumannii (CR-SM-ACB) complex have emerged as an important cause of sepsis, especially in ICUs. We have purified Peptidase M84 from in an effort to isolate anticancer proteases from environmental microbial isolates. This metallo-protease had no discernible impact on normal cell survival, but it specifically induced apoptosis in ovarian cancer cells. PAR-1, a GPCR which is reported to be overexpressed in ovarian cancer cells, was identified as a target of Peptidase M84.

The dynamic interface between invading viral pathogens and programmed cell death (PCD) of the host is a finely regulated process. Host cellular demise at the end of the viral life cycle ensures the release of progeny virions to initiate new infection cycles. Rotavirus (RV), a diarrheagenic virus with double-stranded RNA genome, has been reported to trigger different types of PCD such as apoptosis and pyroptosis in a highly regulated way to successfully disseminate progeny virions.

We meta-analyzed the diagnostic accuracy of rapid diagnostic tests (dipsticks) and loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) method to detect Shigella species. We searched MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science and Google Scholar from inception to 2023 for studies reporting on the performance of Shigella dipstick and LAMP tests compared with culture or polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Our search identified 2618 studies, of which fourteen met the inclusion criteria for the systematic review.

Background: Quantitative molecular assays are increasingly used for detection of enteric viruses.
Methods: We compared the clinical severity using the modified Vesikari score (mVS) of enteric viruses detected by conventional assays (enzyme immunoassays [EIAs] for rotavirus and adenovirus 40/41 and conventional polymerase chain reaction for astrovirus, sapovirus, and norovirus) and a quantitative molecular assay (TaqMan Array Card [TAC]) among children aged 0-59 months in the Global Enteric Multicenter Study. For rotavirus and adenovirus 40/41, we compared severity between EIA-positive and TAC-positive cases assigned etiologies using different cycle threshold (Ct) cutoffs.
