Background: Secundum atrial septal defect (ASD) is treated following trans-catheter closure in alternative to surgical treatment. Per-intervention selection of device size with balloon occlusive diameter (BOD) often cause tearing or enlarging, causing arrhythmias and hypotension. We assessed the suitability of percutaneous device closure for ASD using 3-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography (3DTTE).

Since the advent of severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 in December 2019, millions of people have been infected and succumbed to death because of this deadly virus. Cardiovascular complications such as thromboembolism and arrhythmia are predominant causes of morbidity and mortality. Different scores previously used for atrial fibrillation (AF) identification or prediction of its complications were investigated by physicians to understand whether those scores can predict in-hospital mortality or AF among patients infected with the severe acute respiratory syndromecoronavirus-2 virus.

We aimed to measure the upper limit of the normal (ULN) of ASO titre among healthy children to determine the cut-off value for the diagnosis of RF in Bangladesh.
Methods: A total of 400 healthy children aged 5-15 years with no history of fever, sore throat and impetigo during the last 8 weeks of the study were enrolled.

Coronary catheterization is usually performed using the transfemoral approach but trans-radial has been increasingly used as an alternative to transfemoral approach due to less vascular complications, earlier ambulation time and improved patient comfort. The aim of the study was to compare the safety and feasibility of trans-radial and transfemoral PCI in the elderly ACS patients. This prospective observational study was conducted in the NICVD, Dhaka from October 2017 to September 2018.

Background: Zinc deficiency is evident in chronic diseases, but little is known about its association with multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDRTB). We aimed to measure serum zinc level in MDRTB patients and explore its association with MDRTB compared to drug-sensitive tuberculosis (DSTB).
Methods: We recruited 107 MDRTB and 87 DSTB patients from a tuberculosis referral hospital in Bangladesh.

Inappropriate use of pesticides has globally exposed mankind to a number of health hazards. Still their production is rising at the rate of 11 % annually and, has already exceeded more than 5 million tons in 2000 (FAO 2017). Plenty of available data reveals that pesticides exposures through agricultural use and food-preservative residue consumption may lead to neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases.

The pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy is still unclear. The relative role of duration of diabetes, glycemic and insulinemic status in the etiopathogenesis of retinopathy is to be clearly understood.
