The rise in the global population has increased the demand for dietary food protein. Strategies to maximize agricultural and livestock outputs could strain land and freshwater supply and contribute to substantial negative environmental impacts. Consequently, there has been an emphasis on identifying alternative sources of edible proteins that are more sustainable, sustainable, ethical, and healthy.

Saponification value, the average molecular weight of fatty acids, is a crucial parameter for detecting adulteration of edible oils. Conventionally, it is determined in a laboratory setup through a time-consuming, laborious titration process using chemical reagents. Herein, the application of Raman spectroscopy for quick SV estimation of oils is demonstrated.

The visible light-promoted -alkenylation of phenols and naphthols with terminal alkynes is achieved using 2,4,6-tris(4-fluorophenyl)pyrylium tetrafluoroborate (T(-F)PPT) as a photocatalyst at room temperature without the need of any external ligand or additive. Apart from its excellent functional group tolerance, the protocol described herein represents an appealing alternative strategy to classical transition-metal catalysed hydroarylation reactions. Mechanistic investigations revealed that the reaction involves a radical pathway.

This study employed a ligand-based pharmacophoric approach to design and synthesize 33 novel semisynthetic labdane-appended triazolyl isatins to discover potential anti-inflammatory agents. The anti-inflammatory efficacy of the derivatives was evaluated by their ability to inhibit the production of NO, TNF-α, and IL-6, in lipopolysaccharide-induced RAW264.7 macrophages.

Epoxyazadiradione is an important limonoid with immense pharmacological potential. We have reported previously that epoxyazadiradione (EAD) induces apoptosis in triple negative breast cancer cells (MDA-MB 231) by modulating diverse cellular targets. Here, we identify the key genes/pathways responsible for this effect through next-generation sequencing of the transcriptome from EAD treated cells and integrated molecular data analysis using bioinformatics.

Therefore, diagnostic tools that facilitate a better understanding of heat shock damage and the defense mechanism at the sub-cellular level are of great importance. In this report, we have demonstrated the use of a pyridinium-based fluorescent molecule, PM-ER-OH, as a 'multichannel' imaging probe to monitor the pH change associated with a heat shock in the endoplasmic reticulum.

Two novel cyclometalated ruthenium complexes, RC-4 and RC-5, featuring 1-phenylisoquinoline and phenyl quinazoline as ancillary ligands, respectively, were synthesized to investigate their viability with the environmentally friendly copper (Cu) redox mediator, [Cu(bpye)]. The modification of the ligand environment resulted in variations in the energetics, photophysical properties, and photovoltaic performance of RC-4 and RC-5 sensitizers. Despite RC-5 sensitizer possessing a more positive ground state potential of 1.

The emergence of sustainable polymers and technologies has led to the development of innovative materials with minimal carbon emissions which find extensive applications in wearable electronics, biomedical sensors, and Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring systems. Nanocellulose which can be generated from abundant biomass materials has been widely recognized as a sustainable alternative for a diverse range of applications due to its remarkable properties and eco-friendly nature. By making use of the unique and easily accessible coordination transformation property of Co(II) ions and associated visible light absorption changes, we report a novel Co(II) cation-incorporated nanocellulose/malonic acid hybrid aerogel material that exhibits reversible thermochromism induced by thermal stimulus in the presence of atmospheric moisture.

A simple and efficient synthetic approach for generating a library of structurally novel indolizines has been developed via sequential 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition-ring opening processes. Using this methodology, a series of indolizines bearing different substituents were made in moderate to good yields. The presence of two functionalizable C-H bonds in these indolizine motifs makes them attractive for accessing fused indolizine scaffolds.
