Oxygen vacancy (O) is an anionic defect widely existed in metal oxide lattice, as exemplified by CeO, TiO, and ZnO. As O can modify the band structure of solid, it improves the physicochemical properties such as the semiconducting performance and catalytic behaviours. We report here a new type of O as an intrinsic part of a perfect crystalline surface.

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) have aroused extensive attention in the field of catalysis. However, due to the integration of multiple active sites in HEA, it exhibits excessive adsorption behavior resulting in difficult desorption of active species from the catalyst surfaces, which hinders the catalytic efficiency. Therefore, adjusting the adsorption strength of the active site in HEA to enhance the catalytic activity is of great importance.

Developing novel n-type organic semiconductors is an on-going research endeavour, given their pivotal roles in organic electronics and their relative scarcity compared to p-type counterparts. In this study, a new strategy was employed to synthesize n-type organic semiconductors featuring a fully fused conjugated backbone. By attaching two sets of adjacent amino and formyl groups to the indacenodithiophene-based central cores and triggering a tandem reaction sequence of a Knoevenagel condensation-intramolecular cyclization, DFA1 and DFA2 were realized.

Smart dressings integrated with bioelectronics have attracted considerable attention and become promising solutions for skin wound management. However, due to the mechanical distinction between human body and the interface of electronics, previous smart dressings often suffered obvious degradation in electrical performance when attached to the soft and curvilinear wound sites. Here, we report a stretchable dressing integrated with temperature and pH sensor for wound status monitoring, as well as an electrically controlled drug delivery system for infection treatment.

Contrary to previous results, a unique anti-correlation effect of the alkyl chain size on the photovoltaic performance of acceptors was observed. For a centrally-extended acceptor, replacing linear alkyl chains (-undecyl for CH-BBQ) on the thienothiophene unit with branched ones (2-butyloctyl for CH-BO) leads to a plunge in the power conversion efficiency of organic solar cells (18.12% 11.

Chiral three-dimensional (3D) perovskites exhibit exceptional optoelectronic characteristics and inherent chiroptical activity, which may overcome the limitations of low-dimensional chiral optoelectronic devices and achieve superior performance. The integrated chip of high-performance arbitrary polarized light detection is one of the aims of chiral optoelectronic devices and may be achieved by chiral 3D perovskites. Herein, we first fabricate the wafer-scale integrated full-Stokes polarimeter by the synergy of unprecedented chiral 3D perovskites (/-PyEA)PbBr and one-step capillary-bridge assembly technology.

High-sensitivity strain sensing elements with a wide strain range, fast response, high stability, and small sensing areas are desirable for constructing strain sensor arrays with high temporospatial resolution. However, current strain sensors rely on crack-based conductive materials having an inherent tradeoff between their sensing area and performance. Here, we present a molecular-level crack modulation strategy in which we use layer-by-layer assembly to introduce strong, dynamic, and reversible coordination bonds in an MXene and silver nanowire-matrixed conductive film.

Two-dimensional carbon-based materials have shown promising electromagnetic wave absorption capabilities in mid- and high-frequency ranges, but face challenges in low-frequency absorption due to limited control over polarization response mechanisms and ambiguous resonance behavior. In this study, we propose a novel approach to enhance absorption efficiency in aligned three-dimensional (3D) MXene/CNF (cellulose nanofibers) cavities by modifying polarization properties and manipulating resonance response in the 3D MXene architecture. This controlled polarization mechanism results in a significant shift of the main absorption region from the X-band to the S-band, leading to a remarkable reflection loss value of - 47.

The structure of molecular aggregates is crucial for charge transport and photovoltaic performance in organic solar cells (OSCs). Herein, the intermolecular interactions and aggregated structures of nonfused-ring electron acceptors (NFREAs) are precisely regulated through a halogen transposition strategy, resulting in a noteworthy transformation from a 2D-layered structure to a 3D-interconnected packing network. Based on the 3D electron transport pathway, the binary and ternary devices deliver outstanding power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 17.

Introducing dynamic behavior into periodic frameworks has borne fruit in the form of flexible porous crystals. The detailed molecular design of frameworks in order to control their collective dynamics is of particular interest, for example, to achieve stimulus-induced behavior. Herein, by varying the degree of rigidity of ditopic pillar linkers, two isostructural flexible metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with common rigid supermolecular building bilayers were constructed.

Based on the electron-withdrawing effect of the Pt(bpy)Cl molecule, a simple post-modification amide reaction was firstly used to graft it onto the surface of NH-MIL-125, which performed as a highly efficient electron acceptor that induced the conversion of the photoinduced charge migration pathway from internal BDC→TiO migration to external BDC→PtN migration, significantly improving the efficiency of photoinduced electron transfer and separation. Furthermore, precisely regulating over the first coordination sphere of Pt single atoms was achieved using further post-modification with additional bipyridine to investigate the effect of Pt-N coordination numbers on reaction activity. The as-synthesized NML-PtN exhibited superior photocatalytic hydrogen evolution activity of 7.

PSS has been widely used as a hole extraction layer (HEL) in organic solar cells (OSCs). However, their acidic nature can potentially corrode the indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode over time, leading to adverse effects on the longevity of the OSCs. Herein, we have developed a class of biphosphonic acid molecules with tunable dipole moments for self-assembled monolayers (SAMs), namely, 3-BPIC(i), 3-BPIC, and 3-BPIC-F, which exhibit an increasing dipole moment in sequence.

Flexible and stretchable thin-film transistors (TFTs) are crucial in skin-like electronics for wearable and implantable applications. Such electronics are usually constrained in performance owing to a lack of high-mobility and stretchable semiconducting channels. Tellurium, a rising semiconductor with superior charge carrier mobilities, has been limited by its intrinsic brittleness and anisotropy.

The separation of acetylene from carbon dioxide is challenging due to their almost identical molecular sizes and volatilities. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) in general are strong candidates for the separation of gas mixtures owing to the presence of functional pore surfaces that can selectively capture specific target molecules. Herein, we report a stable and easily synthesized bismuth-based MOF, Bi-BTC, which can achieve the separation of acetylene and carbon dioxide.

Generating circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) with simultaneous high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and dissymmetry factor (g) is difficult due to usually unmatched electric transition dipole moment (μ) and magnetic transition dipole moment (m) of materials. Herein we tackle this issue by playing a "cascade cationic insertion" trick to achieve strong CPL (with PLQY of ~100 %) in lead-free metal halides with high g values reaching -2.3×10 without using any chiral inducers.

Heterointerface engineering is an attractive approach to modulating electromagnetic (EM) parameters and EM wave absorption performance. However, the weak interfacial interactions and poor impedance matching would lead to unsatisfactory EM absorption performance due to the limitation of the construction materials and design strategies. Herein, multilevel heterointerface engineering is proposed by in situ growing nanosheet-like NiCoO and selenides with abundant interface structures on 3D-printed graphene aerogel (GA) skeletons, which strengthens the interfacial effect and improves the dielectric polarization loss.

Endowing perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) with circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) offers great promise for innovative chiroptical applications, but the existing strategies are inefficient in acquiring stimuli-responsive flexible chiral perovskite films with large, tunable dissymmetry factor (g) and long-term stability. Here, we report a strategy for the design and synthesis of luminescent cholesteric liquid crystal elastomer (Lumin-CLCE) films with mechanically tunable CPL, which is enabled by liquid crystal-templated chiral self-assembly and in situ covalent cross-linking of judiciously designed photopolymerizable CsPbX (X=Cl, Br, I) PQD nanomonomers into the elastic polymer networks. The resulting Lumin-CLCE films showcase circularly polarized structural color in natural light and noticeable CPL with a maximum g value of up to 1.

Solvent effects in catalytic reactions have received widespread attention as they can promote reaction rates and product selectivities by orders of magnitude. It is well accepted that the stable five-membered cyclic intermediates formed between the solvent molecules and Ti species are crucial to the alkene epoxidation in a heterogeneous Ti(IV)-HO system. However, the direct spectroscopic evidence of these intermediates is still missing and the corresponding reaction pathway for the alkene epoxidation remains unclear.

2D conjugated extension on central units of small molecular acceptors (SMAs) has gained great successes in reaching the state-of-the-art organic photovoltaics. Whereas the limit size of 2D central planes and their dominant role in constructing 3D intermolecular packing networks are still elusive. Thus, by exploring a series of SMAs with gradually enlarged central planes, it is demonstrated that, at both single molecular and aggerated levels, there is an unexpected blue-shift for their film absorption but preferable reorganization energies, exciton lifetimes and binding energies with central planes enlarging, especially when comparing to their Y6 counterpart.
