Background: Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) is a collective term for pre-cancerous lesions associated with cervical invasive carcinoma. Treatment options depend on the development and progression of the disease. Especially for patients with CINII grade who are aged 25 years and older and have fertility requirements, it is a clinical challenge to determine whether to proceed with conservative or excisional treatment.

The benign tumor uterine leiomyoma (UL) develops from the smooth muscle tissue that constitutes the uterus, whereas malignant tumor uterine sarcoma develops from either the smooth muscle tissue or stroma and is different from UL and endometrial cancer. Uterine sarcoma is broadly classified into three types: uterine leiomyosarcoma, endometrial stromal sarcoma (ESS), and carcinosarcoma. Although uterine leiomyosarcoma and ESS are both classified as uterine sarcoma, they significantly differ in terms of their sites of occurrence, symptoms, and treatment methods.

In normal pregnancy, the egg is fertilized in the fallopian tube. It later moves into the uterus, where it implants into the uterine endometrium. Therefore, implantation of the fertilized egg into the endometrium is not observed in many women using contraceptives.

We present a case report of a 92-year-old patient with thoracic empyema, who was successfully treated via CT-guided insertion of a pigtail catheter. The advanced age of the patient often poses challenges in managing pyothorax due to limited physical activity and cognitive decline stemming from decreased activities of daily living. In instances where thoracic drainage is not feasible, the course of treatment is protracted and the prognosis is poor.

In previous clinical studies, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in cancer patients has a high risk of aggravation and mortality than in healthy infected individuals. Inoculation with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine reduces the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 severity. However, vaccination-induced anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody production is said to be lower in cancer patients than in healthy individuals.

Left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction is associated with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, and metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a risk factor. However, there is limited knowledge regarding the metabolic factors that contribute to LV dysfunction in postmenopausal women without comorbidities. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between LV diastolic dysfunction and MetS, as well as other cardiovascular risk factors, and to determine risks for LV diastolic dysfunction.

Nonobese diabetic (NOD)/ShiLtJ mice, such as biobreeding rats, are used as an animal model for type 1 diabetes. Diabetes develops in NOD mice as a result of insulitis, a leukocytic infiltrate of the pancreatic islets. The onset of diabetes is associated with moderate glycosuria and nonfasting hyperglycemia.

Background: Securing an early accurate diagnosis of diabetic foot infections and assessment of their severity are of paramount importance since these infections can cause great morbidity and potentially mortality and present formidable challenges in surgical and antimicrobial treatment.
Methods: In June 2018, we searched the literature using PuEbMed and EMBASE for published studies on the diagnosis of diabetic foot infection. On the basis of predetermined criteria, we reviewed prospective controlled, as well as noncontrolled, studies in any language, seeking translations for those not in English.

The optimal approaches to managing diabetic foot infections remain a challenge for clinicians. Despite an exponential rise in publications investigating different treatment strategies, the various agents studied generally produce comparable results, and high-quality data are scarce. In this systematic review, we searched the medical literature using the PubMed and Embase databases for published studies on the treatment of diabetic foot infections as of June 2018.

Background: The indocyanine green test is used widely to evaluate the risk of posthepatectomy liver failure for hepatocellular carcinoma. A more convenient and reliable scoring system is desired owing to limited accuracy and availability of the indocyanine green test. This study aimed to establish a new selection criterion for liver resection in HCC.

Objectives: To demonstrate how the confidence, attitude and job satisfaction of pharmacists who provide interventions and lifestyle support services to patients with hypertension are altered.
Methods: This study was a before-and-after study that used data from 50 pharmacists who participated in the Community Pharmacists Assist for Blood Pressure (COMPASS-BP) study, which was an interventional study that was conducted in Japan to evaluate the effects of lifestyle support services provided to hypertension patients. The pharmacists received 4 h of training before the study was initiated to learn how to quickly provide patients with guidance about diet and exercise and tobacco and alcohol consumption.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical outcomes associated with anti-methicillin-resistant (MRSA) antimicrobials.
Methods: We reviewed a prospective database of 247 consecutive patients with clinically and microbiologically confirmed MRSA infections, hospitalized in 7 Japanese hospitals between April 2014 and March 2015, and treated with anti-MRSA pharmaceuticals. Survival was measured at 30 days.

It is unknown whether there is a threshold of creatine kinase (CK) or CK-MB affecting the subsequent mortality for post-discharge myocardial infarction (PDMI) after percutaneous coronary intervention. Current study sought to evaluate the impact of PDMI. The study population included 30,051 patients with successful coronary stenting and discharged alive in the pooled patient-level database of 4 Japanese studies (j-Cypher registry, CREDO-Kyoto PCI/CABG registry cohort-2, RESET, and NEXT).

Background: Although unilateral primary aldosteronism is the most common surgically correctable cause of hypertension, no standard criteria exist to classify surgical outcomes. We aimed to create consensus criteria for clinical and biochemical outcomes and follow-up of adrenalectomy for unilateral primary aldosteronism and apply these criteria to an international cohort to analyse the frequency of remission and identify preoperative determinants of successful outcome.
Methods: The Primary Aldosteronism Surgical Outcome (PASO) study was an international project to develop consensus criteria for outcomes and follow-up of adrenalectomy for unilateral primary aldosteronism.
