The increasing prevalence of complex (MAC) pulmonary disease poses a significant therapeutic challenge, particularly due to the limited efficacy and systemic toxicity associated with conventional guideline-based therapy. Amikacin liposome inhalation suspension (ALIS) has been developed, yet its real-world application remains underreported. This retrospective analysis, conducted from March 2021 to February 2024, examined ALIS's clinical use in patients aged 20 years or older with refractory MAC pulmonary disease at our institution.

This study collected samples of particulate matter that are 2.5 μm or less in diameter (PM) in Kanazawa, Japan, and Noto Peninsula located 100 km north on the windward side of the westerlies from the Asian continent and characterized the extent of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and nitro-PAHs (NPAHs) pollution in Kanazawa. Emission areas and specific sources of PM and of PAHs and NPAHs were clarified via back-trajectory analysis and the NP-method, respectively.

Here, we report a case of an 87-year-old female patient with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treated with methotrexate (MTX) and golimumab who developed severe pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP), also known as pneumonia. The patient presented with chief complaints of dyspnea on exertion, dry cough, and fatigue. A high-resolution chest CT scan revealed diffuse, unevenly distributed ground-glass opacities throughout both lungs.

Introduction: Platinum-based chemotherapy is the mainstay of first-line therapy for advanced-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Although carboplatin-induced hypersensitivity reactions (HSRs) commonly occur following multiple cycles of therapy, they are rarely observed during the first cycle of the treatment.
Case Report: Here, we report the case of a 70-year-old man with advanced-stage NSCLC who developed HSR possibly caused by carboplatin during the first cycle of induction with platinum-doublet chemotherapy plus pembrolizumab.

Background And Objectives: Drowsy driving increases the risk of motor vehicle crashes in those with untreated obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Although previous studies indicated that excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) might not predict OSA, they were not conclusive due to their small study sizes or restricted participants to sleep clinic patients. The overall objective was to determine whether self-reported EDS can be used for case identification of OSA among commercial truck drivers.

Objectives: Our objective was to investigate trends in the treatment of patients with late-onset rheumatoid arthritis (LORA) using data from the National Database of Rheumatic Diseases in Japan (NinJa).
Methods: Patients registered in the National Database of Rheumatic Diseases in Japan were classified according to the disease onset: at <65 years (young-onset rheumatoid arthritis); at 65-74 years (early LORA); and at ≥75 years (late LORA). Chronological changes in the treatment and disease activity were compared.

Background: The Recap of atopic eczema (RECAP), a new core outcome of the atopic dermatitis trial, was translated into Japanese and linguistically validated.
Methods: Translation into Japanese was accomplished according to the ISPOR (International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcome Research) guidelines and the basic guidelines for scale translation. The translation process included two forward translations, reconciliation with native English speakers, third-party back translation, cognitive debriefing, review and harmonization by the original authors.

We report a case of a female patient in her 50s, previously diagnosed with follicular lymphoma (now in complete remission), who was admitted to our hospital due to antibiotic-resistant pneumonia lasting a month. The patient had contracted coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia a year earlier and exhibited persistent hypogammaglobulinemia. Chest CT scans revealed wondering ground-glass opacities and consolidations initially suggestive of cryptogenic organizing pneumonia (COP).

Purpose: Both obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and the common cold are disorders of the upper respiratory tract, and may be associated. However, studies on the association between OSA and upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) in children are scarce. The aim of this study was to investigate possible associations between snoring, the severity of OSA, and URTI in elementary school children.

Background: Organizing pneumonia (OP) is recognized as a nonspecific lung injury response characterized histopathologically by the presence of intra-alveolar buds of granulation tissue. Most OP patients show excellent responses to corticosteroids, but relapse is frequently seen when corticosteroids are tapered or discontinued. Although several factors associated with relapse have been reported in cryptogenic OP (COP), the clinical features and risk factors associated with relapse in connective tissue disease-associated OP (CTD-OP) have yet to be fully understood.

She exhibited acute respiratory failure necessitating 4 L/minute of nasal oxygen at maximum. Chest CT images showed diffuse centrilobular ground-glass opacities with mosaic attenuation and consolidation areas in the lower lobes of both lungs.
