Developing superporous hemostatic sponges with simultaneously enhanced permeability and mechanical properties remains challenging but highly desirable to achieve rapid hemostasis for non-compressible hemorrhage. Typical approaches to improve the permeability of hemostatic sponges by increasing porosity sacrifice mechanical properties and yield limited pore interconnectivity, thereby undermining the hemostatic efficacy and subsequent tissue regeneration. Herein, we propose a temperature-assisted secondary network compaction strategy following the phase separation-induced primary compaction to fabricate the superporous chitosan sponge with highly-interconnected porous structure, enhanced blood absorption rate and capacity, and fatigue resistance.

The development of luminescent materials via mechanochemistry embodies a compelling yet intricate frontier within materials science. Herein, we delineate a methodology for the synthesis of brightly luminescent polymers, achieved by the mechanochemical coupling of aggregation-induced emission (AIE) prefluorophores with generic polymers. An array of AIE moieties tethered to the 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) radical are synthesized as prefluorophores, which initially exhibit weak fluorescence due to intramolecular quenching.

The metal-semiconductor interface fabricated by conventional methods often suffers from contamination, degrading transport performance. Herein, we propose a one-pot chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process to create a two-dimensional (2D) MoO-MoSe heterostructure by growing MoO seeds under a hydrogen environment, followed by depositing MoSe on the surface and periphery. The ultraclean interface is verified by cross-sectional scanning transmission electron microscopy and photoluminescence.

Current high-efficiency organic solar cells (OSCs) are generally fabricated in an inert atmosphere that limits their real-world scalable manufacturing, while the efficiencies of air-processed OSCs lag far behind. The impacts of ambient factors on solar cell fabrication remain unclear. In this work, the effects of ambient factors on cell fabrication are systematically investigated, and it is unveiled that the oxidation and doping of organic light absorbers are the dominant reasons causing cell degradation when fabricated in air.

Senescent cancer cells are endowed with high immunogenic potential that has been leveraged to elicit antitumor immunity and potentially complement anticancer therapies. However, the efficacy of live senescent cancer cell-based vaccination is limited by interference from immunosuppressive senescence-associated secretory phenotype and pro-tumorigenic capacity of senescent cells. Here, a senescent cancer cell-based nanovaccine with strong immunogenicity and favorable potential for immunotherapy is reported.

Despite cisplatin's pivotal role in clinically proven anticancer drugs, its application has been hampered by severe side effects and a grim prognosis. Herein, we devised a glutathione (GSH)-responsive nanoparticle (PFS-NP) that integrates a disulfide bond-based amphiphilic polyphenol (PP-SS-DA), a dopamine-modified cisplatin prodrug (Pt-OH) and iron ions (Fe) through coordination reactions between Fe and phenols. After entering cells, the responsively released Pt-OH and disulfide bonds eliminate the intracellular GSH, in turn disrupting the redox homeostasis.

Controllable photofluorochromic systems with high contrast and multicolor in both solutions and solid states are ideal candidates for the development of dynamic artificial intelligence. However, it is still challenging to realize multiple photochromism within one single molecule, not to mention good controllability. Herein, we report an aggregation-induced emission luminogen TPE-2MO2NT that undergoes oxidation cleavage upon light irradiation and is accompanied by tunable multicolor emission from orange to blue with time-dependence.

Lung cancer, a highly prevalent and lethal form of cancer, is often associated with oxidative stress. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has emerged as a promising alternative therapeutic tool in cancer treatments, but its efficacy is closely correlated to the photosensitizers generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the antioxidant capacity of tumor cells. In particular, glutathione (GSH) can reduce the ROS and thus compromise PDT efficacy.
