Since its emergence, porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) has caused enormous economic losses to the global swine industry. The pathogenesis of PRRS remains under investigation. The porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) causes reproductive disorders in pigs and respiratory in piglets, which is a 15 kb RNA virus that encodes 16 viral proteins, most of which exhibit multiple functions during the virus lifecycle.

Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is known for antiobesity. However, the role of CLA in regulating high-fat diet (HFD)-impaired pubertal mammary gland development remains undefined. Here, pubertal female mice and HC11 cells were treated with HFD or palmitic acid (PA), supplemented with or without CLA, respectively.

Corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) is an important stress hormone, and because of the different distributions and functions of its receptors, CRF has various effects on the stress response of animals. CRF receptor 2 (CRFR2) is a functional receptor of CRF that may be related to appetite regulation and sex differences. In this study, male and female C57BL/6 mice were exposed to an ambient temperature of 4 °C, and feed intake were determined.

Introduction: Maternal fish oil (FO) supplementation during pregnancy has been shown to improve pregnancy outcomes. FO is recognized as dietary source for n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs). While early research has focused on the benefits of n-3 PUFAs for fetal neurodevelopment, retinal maturation and neonatal behavior, their roles in the placenta during late pregnancy and in the mammary gland during lactation still remain unknow.

The study of muscle disorders has gained popularity, with a particular emphasis on the relationship between adipose tissue and skeletal muscle. In our investigation, we discovered that the deletion of miR-146a-5p specifically in adipose tissue (aKO) led to a notable rise in mice's mass and adiposity. In contrast, it led to a decline in lean mass, ability to exercise, diameter of muscle fibers, and the levels of genes associated with differentiation.

Background: Indigenous pig breeds in China have accumulated significant genetic diversity due to regional selection pressures. Investigating the selection signatures of these populations helps to understand their adaptive evolution and contributes to genetic improvement programs.
Results: We collected whole-genome sequencing data from 133 individuals, including South China and North China indigenous pigs and Asian wild boars.

It is well known that the function of granulosa cells (GCs) is closely related to follicular development, and and histone methylation have been implicated in follicular development. However, the specific mechanisms by which and histone methylation regulate follicular development are still largely unknown. To explore the specific mechanism of in regulating follicular development, in this study, we showed that the expression of in immature ovaries and small follicles was significantly higher than in mature ovaries and large follicles of sows, respectively.

Vascular endothelial growth factor B (VEGF-B) has been suggested to play a crucial role in regulating whole-body glucose homeostasis. However, the involved mechanisms are not fully understood. This study aimed to elucidate the regulatory effects and mechanisms of VEGF-B on glucose uptake in skeletal muscle, focusing on glucose uptake by skeletal muscle cells and vascular endothelial cells.

Human chorionic gonadotropin is a glycoprotein hormone produced by human or humanoid syncytiotrophoblasts that differentiate during pregnancy. Due to its superior stability and long-lasting effects compared to luteinizing hormone, it is often used to replace luteinizing hormone to regulate reproductive performance in sows. Human chorionic gonadotropin promotes oocyte maturation, follicle development, and luteinization, thereby increasing conception rates and supporting early embryonic development.

At present, raising caged chickens is a common farming method in China. However, monitoring the status of caged chickens is still done by human labor, which is time-consuming and laborious. This paper proposed a posture detection method for caged chickens based on computer vision, which can automatically identify the standing and lying posture of chickens in a cage.

The interactions between myogenic cells and adipocytes play an important role in improving carcass traits and the efficiency of energy utilization. However, there are few reports about the interaction between them mediated by small extracellular vesicles (sEV). In this study, sEV derived from porcine primary skeletal muscle stem cells (MuSCs) was found to be involved in the inhibition of porcine primary adipocyte viability, triglyceride content, Oil Red O enrichment and the expression of adipogenic genes.

Adipose tissue plays an important role in pig production efficiency. Studies have shown that postnatal development has a vital impact on adipose tissue; however, the mechanisms behind pig adipose tissue early-life programming remain unknown. In this study, we analyzed the transcriptomes of the subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) of 1-day and 21-day old Laiwu piglets.

There are different stress resistance among different breeds of pigs. Changes in intestinal stem cells (ISCs) are still unclear among various breeds of piglets after early weaning. In the current study, Taoyuan Black and Duroc piglets were slaughtered at 21 days of age (early weaning day) and 24 days of age (3 days after early weaning) for 10 piglets in each group.

Small extracellular vesicles (sEV) have emerged as a novel mode of intercellular material transport and information transmission. It has been suggested hormones may regulate the production and function of sEV. However, the specific impact of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) on pituitary sEV production and the role of sEV in the regulation of the GHRH-GH-IGF axis has not been previously reported.

The pig is the most widely consumed domestic animal in China, providing over half of the meat supply in food markets. For livestock, a key economic trait is the reproductive performance, which is significantly influenced by placental development. The placenta, a temporary fetal organ, is crucial for establishing maternal-fetal communication and supporting fetal growth throughout pregnancy.

Intestine derived lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is closely related to systemic inflammation and disorders, yet little is known about its roles in the weanling stress of piglets and its potential as a nutritional intervention target. This study aimed to investigate the potential of essential oils (EO) and organic acids (OA) in mitigating weaning stress in piglets by modulating the circulation of intestine derived LPS. Seventy-two weaned piglets at 21 d old with body weight of 8.

This study investigated the production performance, carcass characteristics, and meat quality attributes of broilers fed with different doses of Monascus-fermented Moringa oleifera leaves. A total of 400 one-day-old unsexed Greenleg partridge broilers were randomly divided into 4 dietary which were fed a basal diet supplemented with 0, 5% Monascus-fermented Moringa oleifera leaves, 10% Monascus-fermented Moringa oleifera leaves, and 10% Moringa oleifera leaves, respectively. Each group had 5 replicates of twenty birds each.
