Imidazoline As a Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor for Mitigation of Top- and Bottom-of-the-Line CO Corrosion in Carbon Steel Pipelines.

Langmuir

June 2024

National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), 114 Thailand Science Park, Phahonyothin Road, Khlong Nueng, Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani 12120, Thailand.

A fatty acid imidazoline-based inhibitor was synthesized via a facile solvent-free synthesis method between tall oil fatty acid (TOFA) and diethylenetriamine (DETA) under atmospheric conditions with a short reaction time. The as-synthesized imidazoline (S-Imd) acted as an effective inhibitor for reducing or preventing corrosion of carbon steel pipelines at both bottom of the line (BOL) and top of the line (TOL) positions under simulated conditions of a gas pipeline in a CO-saturated environment. The inhibition efficacy was examined by both weight loss and electrochemical measurements, such as the electrochemical impedance spectrum (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), and linear polarization resistance (LPR).

This work presented the influence of metal oxides as the support for silver-supported catalysts on the catalytic oxidation of diesel particulate matter (DPM). The supports selected to be used in this work were CeO (reducible), ZnO (semiconductor), TiO (reducible and semiconductor), and AlO (acidic). The properties of the synthesized catalysts were investigated using XRD, TEM, H-TPR, and XPS techniques.

Given their ecological importance, bioindicators are used for the assessment of the health of river ecosystems. This study explored the fungal compositions and the potential of fungal taxa as bioindicators for indicating the water quality of the Mekong River, as the use of fungal indicators of the Mekong River was not previously well characterized. The Mekong River exhibited dynamic variations in both physicochemical/hydrochemical properties and fungal communities according to seasons and locations.

Greenhouse gas emissions trends and drivers insights from the domestic aviation in Thailand.

Heliyon

January 2024

Division of Energy Management Technology, School of Energy, Environment and Materials, King Mongkut's University of Technology, Thonburi, Bangkok, Thailand.

Domestic aviation is a swiftly expanding contributor to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Presently, economic volatility and the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis have resulted in the decline of domestic aviation, but domestic aviation is rapidly recovering in many countries. However, from a GHG emissions viewpoint, the domestic aviation sector is largely unenforced even though the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) provision for international aviation is currently in place.

Dispersed MnO nanoparticles/sugarcane bagasse-derived carbon composite as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries.

RSC Adv

January 2024

Department of Chemistry and Center of Excellence for Innovation in Chemistry (PERCH-CIC), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Faculty of Science, Kasetsart University Thailand.

Bagasse-derived carbon electrodes were developed by doping with nitrogen functional groups and compositing with high-capacity MnO nanoparticles (MnO/NBGC). The bagasse-derived biochar was N-doped by refluxing in urea, followed by the deposition of MnO nanoparticles onto its porous surface the hydrothermal reduction of KMnO. Different initial KMnO loading concentrations ( 5, 10, 40, and 100 mM) were applied to optimize the composite morphology and the corresponding electrochemical performance.

This research developed hierarchical 10 wt % Ni-1 wt % ZrO/AlO catalysts for combined steam and CO reforming of methane (CSCRM) reaction to produce syngas for gas-to-liquid (GTL) application under the ultralow temperature and low steam condition. The hierarchical nanosheet catalysts were prepared via a novel impregnation technique assisted by ammonia vapor diffusion with various times (1, 6, and 12 h) to develop the different magnitude of hierarchical nanosheets on the surface. Then, CSCRM at 600 °C was performed on the catalysts for 6 h.

Drivers for spatio-temporal distribution patterns of overall planktonic prokaryotes and eukaryotes in riverine ecosystems are generally not fully understood. This study employed amplicon metabarcoding to investigate the distributions and assembly mechanisms of bacterial and eukaryotic communities in the Mekong River. The prevailing bacteria taxa were found to be Betaproteobacteria, Actinobacteria, and Bacteroidetes, while the dominant eukaryotic organisms were cryptophytes, chlorophytes, and diatoms.

Zeolite has become a promising material that can potentially play a pivotal role in resolving environmental crises. Among zeolite families, MCM-22 zeolite shows outstanding intrinsic properties associated with the topology and porous structure, offering ion-exchange advantages for catalytic activity processes. The synthesis of MCM-22 zeolite becomes challenging when concerning the cost and catalytic performance.

Solution-processed organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite solar cells are among the candidates to replace the traditional silicon solar cells due to their excellent power conversion efficiency (PCE). Despite this considerable progress, understanding the properties of the perovskite precursor solution is critical for perovskite solar cells (PSCs) to achieve high performance and reproducibility. However, the exploration of perovskite precursor chemistry and its effects on photovoltaic performances has been limited thus far.

A simple hydrothermal synthesis of CeO was implemented to obtain a series of CeO-supported gold (Au) catalysts, used for the total oxidation of propene/toluene/CO gas mixtures and the oxidation of CO. CeO preparation started from a cerium hydrogen carbonate precursor using a range of different hydrothermal temperatures (HT) from 120 to 180°C. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and H-temperature-programmed reduction data indicated that CeO morphology varied with the HT, and was composed of the more active (200) surface.

Carbon Electrodes in Perovskite Photovoltaics.

Materials (Basel)

October 2021

Department of Tool and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), 126 Prachauthit Road, Bangmod, Thungkru, Bangkok 10140, Thailand.

High-performance lab-scale perovskite solar cells often have a precious metal as the top electrode. However, there are drawbacks to using metal top electrodes on a large scale, such as inducing degradation processes, requiring a high-temperature deposition process under vacuum, and having low scalability. Recently many studies have shown the potentials of using a carbon electrode because of its conductivity, flexibility, low cost, and ease of fabrication.

To improve the oxidative stability of biodiesel fuel (BDF), the polyunsaturated fatty acid methyl esters (poly-FAME) presented in commercial palm oil-derived biodiesel fuel (palm-BDF) were selectively hydrogenated to monounsaturated fatty acid methyl esters (mono-FAME) under a mild condition (80 °C, 0.5 MPa) using activated carbon (AC)-supported Pd catalysts with a Pd loading of 1 wt.%.
