Background: The malposition of central venous catheters (CVCs) may lead to vascular damage, perforation, and even mediastinal injury. The malposition of CVC from the right subclavian vein into the azygos vein is extremely rare. Here, we report a patient with CVC malposition into the azygos vein via the right subclavian vein.

Background: Mevalonate kinase deficiency (MKD) and TNF receptor-associated periodic syndrome (TRAPS) are categorized as systemic autoinflammatory diseases (SAIDs), which are rare diseases characterized by early onset, severe conditions, and challenging diagnosis and treatment. Although different SAIDs have varying standard treatments, some SAIDs are poorly controlled after routine treatment, seriously affecting the growth and development of children and their quality of life. This study aims to provide more treatment strategies for SAIDs.

Introduction: It has been proposed that the copy number (CN) variation (CNV) in β-defensin genes (DEFB) on human chromosome 8p23 determines phenotypic differences in inflammatory diseases. However, no method for accurate and easy DEFB CN quantification is yet available.
Objective: Droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) is a novel method for CNV quantification and has been used for genes such as CCL4L, CCL3L1, AMY1, and HER2.
