Ionizing technologies are used for disinfection and treatment of different industrial wastewaters. For this purpose, the radiolytic degradation of ibuprofen (IBP), selected within the main detected pharmaceuticals in different water locations with different concentrations, was investigated. Irradiation was performed with a gamma irradiator (Co) and with electron beam accelerator.

The sterile insect technique (SIT) remains a successful approach in managing pest insects. However, the long-term mass rearing and sterilizing radiation associated with SIT have been observed to induce physiological and ecological fitness decline in target insects. This decline may be attributed to various factors, including commensal microbiota dysbiosis, selection procedures, loss of heterozygosity, and other complex interactions.

Stone surface is a unique biological niche that may host a rich microbial diversity. The exploration of the biodiversity of the stone microbiome represents a major challenge and an opportunity to characterize new strains equipped with valuable biological activity. Here, we explored the diversity and adaptation strategies of total bacterial communities associated with Roman stone ruins in Tunisia by considering the effects of geo-climatic regions and stone geochemistry.

Radiotracer investigations were carried out in two identical phosphoric acid production reactors and a triple super phosphate (TSP) production reactor in three different plants in Tunisia. The main objective of the study was to investigate and compare their flow behavior and identify flow abnormalities, if any. Residence time distribution (RTD) of the process material (ore pulp) was measured in the three reactors using Iodine-131.

The Mediterranean fruit fly (medfly) Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae), is often referred to as the most severe agricultural pest. Its biological control is mainly through the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT). Colonization, mass-rearing conditions and the irradiation process impact the competitiveness of sterile males and disrupt symbiotic associations by favoring some bacterial species and suppressing others.
