School Teachers' Knowledge and Attitudes Related to Anaphylactic Reactions: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Introduction: Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction marked by a sudden onset of symptoms affecting multiple bodily systems, and if not addressed promptly, it can lead to fatal outcomes. The primary clinical manifestations often involve skin rash, respiratory distress, and cardiovascular symptoms. Identifying these signs early is crucial for timely intervention, including the administration of epinephrine, aiming to prevent loss of life.

Implementing the MIRROR-TCM Randomised Control Trial During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Mixed-Methods Evaluation.

Aim: To evaluate the implementation of the Transitional Care Model (TCM), an evidence-based, advanced practice registered nurse-led multi-component intervention, as part of a randomised controlled trial during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Design: Parallel convergent mixed-methods approach.

Methods: Data for this study were collected between June 2020 and February 2021.

Risk factors for surgical site infections following hepatobiliary surgery: An umbrella review and meta-analyses.

Background: In the hepatobiliary (HPB) surgical cohort, surgical site infections (SSI) can extend hospital stays, result in higher morbidity, and poor patient outcomes. This umbrella review and meta-analysis aimed to synthesise the evidence for the association between clinical and patient risk factors and SSI in patients following HPB surgery.

Methods: We searched MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE and Scopus from January 2000 to April 2023 to identify systematic reviews and meta-analyses where patient and/or clinical factors of SSIs following HPB surgery were reported.

Nurse Care Management of Opioid Use Disorder Treatment After 3 Years: A Secondary Analysis of the PROUD Cluster Randomized Clinical Trial.

Importance: The Primary Care Opioid Use Disorders (PROUD) treatment trial was a 2-year implementation trial that demonstrated the Massachusetts office-based addiction treatment (OBAT) model of nurse care management for opioid use disorder (OUD) increased OUD treatment in the 2 years after implementation began (8.2 more patient-years of OUD treatment per 10 000 primary care patients). The intervention was continued for a third year, permitting evaluation of 3-year outcomes.

Intrinsic Capacity and Its Association with Adverse Health Outcomes in Older Japanese Outpatients.

Objectives: This study aimed to provide evidence regarding the clinical significance of assessing intrinsic capacity (IC).

Design: Longitudinal study.

Health care workers hospitalized for COVID-19 in Liberia: who were they, and what were their outcomes?

Background: Sustaining a 'fit-for-purpose' health workforce requires a better understanding of the health care worker cadres that are affected during pandemics and their outcomes. In hospitalized health care workers with confirmed COVID-19 between March 2020 and May 2023 in Liberia, we determined the hospitalization and case fatality rates, type of health care worker cadres affected, their demographic and clinical characteristics and hospital exit outcomes.

Methods: This was a cohort study using routine data extracted from hospitalization forms for health care workers in 24 designated COVID-19 treatment facilities.

Caregiving burden, depression, and anxiety in informal caregivers of people with mental illness in China: a cross-sectional survey.

Background: Caregiving for people with mental illness (PwMI) could be burdensome, especially for informal caregivers. However, there is a scarcity of research investigating caregiving burden among informal caregivers of PwMI in China at the national level. To fill this gap, this study examined the prevalence of caregiving burden, depression, and anxiety, as well as their associated factors, among a cross-sectional sample of informal caregivers of PwMI in China.

Development and Validation of a New Nomogram for Predicting Early Neurological Deterioration in Young and Middle-Aged Individuals With Stroke in the Neurocritical Care Unit.

Objective: To analyse risk factors for early neurological damage in young and middle-aged stroke cases.

Methods: Totally 405 young and middle-aged stroke patients in the neurocritical care unit (NCU) were selected and divided into the developmental (260 patients) and validation (145 patients) sets. The 405 cases were also grouped based on whether early neurological deterioration (END) occurred.

Service Design and Evaluation of OpenNotes for Craniofacial Deformity Management in Patients and their Caregivers.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the feasibility of implementing OpenNotes in Korea. It involved developing and evaluating the Open-CHA service, which provides clinical summary information to patients diagnosed with craniofacial deformities and their caregivers following outpatient visits.

Methods: The study included 109 patients diagnosed with craniofacial deformities, along with their caregivers.

Background: As many as 70% of remand prisoners have admitted to being under the influence of alcohol when committing the crime leading to their imprisonment. Providing support and advice regarding alcohol consumption can be effective in some groups of people. There is little evidence regarding this for men on remand in prison.

How should trial teams make decisions about the proportions and diversity of the ethnic groups in their trial?

Background: The benefits of randomised trials are not shared equally, and people from ethnic minority groups are a key constituency under-served by clinical research and clinical care. The STRIDE project aimed to give trialists practical information about how to decide which ethnic groups should be in their trials, and at what proportion.

Methods: We considered trials in six clinical areas: cancer, cardiovascular, diabetes, maternal health, mental health, and smoking cessation.

Administration patterns of magnesium sulphate for women with preeclampsia and immediate newborn outcomes in Kawempe National Referral Hospital-Uganda: a cohort study.

Background: Preeclampsia is the second leading cause of maternal death in Uganda. WHO recommends using magnesium sulphate (MgSO4) to prevent and treat preeclampsia with severe features (PEC) and eclampsia. MgSO4 is used to prevent eclampsia and treat women who experience an eclamptic convulsion to avoid severe maternal/infant illnesses and death.

Enhancing patient activation: a controlled implementation study of an interprofessional evidence-based counseling program for complementary and integrative healthcare in cancer patients ('CCC-Integrativ').

Complementary and integrative healthcare (CIH) is increasingly recognized as a valuable approach to empowering and activating cancer patients. Studies have shown that higher patient activation is positively associated with improved health outcomes and reduced healthcare costs. The CCC-Integrativ study aimed to assess the implementation of an evidence-based counseling service on CIH at four Comprehensive Cancer Centers (CCC) in Germany.

Development and Validation of Virtual Reality Cognitive Training for Older Adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment: Protocol for a Mixed-Methods Program Evaluation Study.

Introduction: As research on cognitive training methods for older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) progresses, fully immersive virtual reality cognitive training (fi-VRCT) has shown promise in enhancing cognitive function. However, its effectiveness in improving instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) and fostering independence is still unclear. This study aims to address these uncertainties by developing and validating a fi-VRCT program focused on IADL, with the goal of enhancing both cognitive function and IADL performance in older adults with MCI.
