Sleep disorders have an extremely negative impact on human vital functioning, encompassing both mental and somatic sphere. A large number of clinical trials have shown an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases and their complications, including the risk of ischemic stroke, in patients suffering from insomnia or sleep-related breathing disturbances. These types of sleep disorders are the most common in the structure of all violations of sleep.

To clarify the role of genetic factors in aging and longevity some clinical and genealogical characteristics of different age groups (54 patients of both sexes) were studied; 34 of them were long livers (>90y) and 20 - the elderly (70-90y). Clinical and laboratory investigations were provided according to WHO experts recommendations. Total content of Cholesterol and Triglycerides was assessed by the enzyme-measuring method.

Introduction: 52% of adults have uncontrolled hypertension in the Republic of Georgia. We incorporated a blood pressure control program into an existing primary healthcare system in an attempt to improve the rate of blood pressure control.
Methods: We conducted standardized trainings of rural primary care providers--doctors and nurses--in accurate measurement of blood pressure according to the Shared Care Method of Training and Certification.

Aim of the study was to determine association between body composition, hypertension and lipid spectrum in subject with coronary heart disease (CHD). We examined 44 patients (men) at age 30-70 years, who were divided into two groups: group I -- 22 subjects with CHD, group II -- 22 practically healthy patients. High body fat composition is directly associated with the risk of coronary heart disease.

The aim of our study was to evaluate quality of life (QL) of elderly and old people diseased with isolated systolic hypertension (ISH) according to their sex and age subgroups. 57 patients were involved in the research (19 men, among them: 11--elderly and 8--old, average age was 69,4+/-5,1; 38 women, 24--elderly, 14--old, average age--67,4+/-5,2). The cognitive indicator was evaluated by the form MMS (MINI-MENTAL STATE).
