Elevated blood levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol are a major cardiovascular risk factor, and cholesterol-lowering drugs are among the most prescribed drugs worldwide. Cancer is the second leading cause of death after cardiovascular diseases. The relationship between cancer development and statins intake is controversial, and there are no clear studies in Lebanon and the Middle East concerning this topic.

Background: Statins are widely used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia and in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. However, they may induce muscular adverse effects that range from asymptomatic elevation of creatine kinase to life threatening rhabdomyolysis.
Objective: The aim of the study was to describe epidemiological and clinical characteristics of patients with muscular adverse effects.

Sarcopenia is a syndrome defined by generalized and progressive loss of skeletal muscle mass, strength, and function. Besides affecting elderly population, it is actually common among inflammatory rheumatic diseases (IRD) patients. We performed a systematic literature review with a meta-analysis to investigate the influence of biologic and target synthetic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs/tsDMARDs) on sarcopenia in IRD.

Background: Bullous fixed drug eruption (BFDE) is a rare and particular adverse drug reaction characterized by localized or generalized blisters and erosions, which can be confused with Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, major erythema multiforme and autoimmune bullous dermatosis.
Objective: The aim of our study was to assess the epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic features and outcome of BFDE.
Methods: A retrospective and descriptive study collecting all observations of BFDE was conducted in the dermatology department of Habib Thameur Hospital in Tunisia, over an 18-year period (2000-2017).
