This article presents the results of a mapping and analysis of key stakeholders operating in the field of Sexual, Reproductive, and Maternal Health and Rights (SRMHR) who are involved in the entitlement of health rights and access to health services for women, adolescents, LGBTQI+ individuals, migrants, indigenous people, Afro-descendants, and people with disabilities in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our study focuses on Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico, and Peru. The primary objective was to identify and comprehensively categorise the activities undertaken by them, since their actions shape, and promote or hinder the SRMHR political agenda in the region.

Long-acting injectables (LAIs) for HIV prevention and treatment could dramatically improve health outcomes and health equity for people with HIV and those who could benefit from pre-exposure prophylaxis. Despite widespread acceptability and demand by providers and potential users of LAIs, implementation has been extremely limited since the introduction of cabotegravir/rilpivirine, the first LAI for HIV treatment, in January 2021, and long-acting cabotegravir, the first LAI for HIV prevention, in December 2021. We report results of a provider survey, conducted by the HIV Medicine Association, which identified LAI implementation barriers related to health insurance processes, staffing and administrative support, drug costs and acquisition, and access for individuals who are uninsured.

Background: The limited efficacy of the two recently approved malaria vaccines, RTS,S/AS01 and R21/Matrix- M™, highlights the need for alternative vaccine candidate genes. Plasmodium falciparum Reticulocyte Binding Protein Homologue 5 (Pfrh5) is a promising malaria vaccine candidate, given its limited polymorphism, its essential role in parasite survival, a lack of immune selection pressure and higher efficacy against multiple parasites strains. This study evaluated the genetic diversity of Pfrh5 gene among parasites from regions with varying malaria transmission intensities in Mainland Tanzania, to generate baseline data for this potential malaria vaccine candidate.

Background: A number of genetic aberrations are associated with the BCL6-correpresor gene (BCOR), including internal tandem duplications (ITDs) and gene fusions (BCOR::CCNB3 and BCOR::MAML3), as well as YWHAE::NUTM2, which are found in clear cell sarcoma of the kidney (CCSK), sarcoma with BCOR genetic alterations, primitive myxoid mesenchymal tumor of infancy, and high-grade neuroepithelial tumors in children. Detecting these gene aberrations is crucial for tumor diagnosis. ITDs can be identified by Sanger sequencing or agarose gel electrophoresis.

Background: Non-typhoidal Salmonella (NTS) frequently cause bloodstream infection in children under-five in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in malaria-endemic areas. Despite progress in healthcare services for individuals living with sickle cell disease (SCD) in Africa, substantial gaps remain in advanced treatments for SCD. To help address this burden, Tanzania has established one of the largest single-centre SCD programmes in the world and developed an advanced therapy programme for SCD focused on patient engagement and advocacy, clinical activities involving exchange blood transfusion (ExBT) and haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT), gene therapy (GT) preparedness, and enabling partnerships. This report describes the programme's genesis, structure and progress achieved.
