Objectives: This study introduces a novel classification approach that combines convolutional neural network (CNN) and Raman mapping to differentiate between tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) and non-tumorous tissue, as well as to identify different histological grades of TSCC.

Materials And Methods: In this study, 240 Raman mappings data from 30 tissue samples were collected from 15 patients who had undergone surgical resection for TSCC. A total of 18,000 sub-mappings extracted from Raman mappings were then used to train and test a CNN model, which extracted feature representations that were subsequently processed through a fully connected network to perform classification tasks based on the Raman mapping data.

A successful therapeutic outcome in the treatment of solid tumours requires efficient intratumoural drug accumulation and retention. Here we demonstrate that zinc gluconate in oral supplements assembles with plasma proteins to form ZnO nanoparticles that selectively accumulate into papillary Caki-2 renal tumours and promote the recruitment of dendritic cells and cytotoxic CD8 T cells to tumour tissues. Renal tumour targeting is mediated by the preferential binding of zinc ions to metallothionein-1X proteins, which are constitutively overexpressed in Caki-2 renal tumour cells.

G-quadruplex-forming small RNA inhibits coronavirus and influenza A virus replication.

Future pandemic threats may be caused by novel coronaviruses and influenza A viruses. Here we show that when directly added to a cell culture, 12mer guanine RNA (G12) and its phosphorothioate-linked derivatives (G12(S)), rapidly entered cytoplasm and suppressed the propagation of human coronaviruses and influenza A viruses to between 1/100 and nearly 1/1000 of normal virus infectivity without cellular toxicity and induction of innate immunity. Moreover, G12(S) alleviated the weight loss caused by coronavirus infection in mice.

AUTS2 syndrome is characterized by intellectual disability and microcephaly, and is often associated with autism spectrum disorder, but the underlying mechanisms, particularly concerning microcephaly, remain incompletely understood. The management of chronic infected wounds remains a significant clinical challenge, largely due to the deficiency of optimal wound dressings with adequate mechanical strength, appropriate adhesiveness, and efficient sustainable antibacterial, reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging, pro-angiogenesis, and immunomodulation properties. To address such a dilemma, we employed a simple and facile strategy to utilize resveratrol (RSV) as a functional component to mediate hydrogel gelation in this study.
