Introduction: The combination of doxorubicin and paclitaxel (AP) is widely used in our country for the neoadjuvant treatment of breast cancer as well as metastatic breast cancer. The AP regimen has shown promise as a neoadjuvant therapy for breast cancer that improves pathological complete response (pCR), increases the rate of conservative surgery, and improves the survival of patients. However, up to now, no research has evaluated the response of this regimen for the neoadjuvant treatment of advanced breast cancer, especially with a 10-year period of follow-up.

Background: Although transoral thyroidectomy has become popular in thyroid surgery, transoral robotic thyroidectomy (TORT) has only been successfully applied in a very small number of medical centers worldwide. In this video, we show a three-port TORT without an axillary incision for papillary thyroid carcinoma.
Patient And Methods: A 35-year-old female with cT1aN0M0 papillary thyroid carcinoma had a strong motivation to proceed with surgery but avoid external neck incisions.

Background: Clear-cell renal cell carcinomas (ccRCCs) are malignant tumors with high metastatic potential and resistance to treatments occurs almost constantly. Compared to primary tumors, there are still limited genomic data that has been obtained from metastatic samples.
Methods: We aimed to characterize metastatic ccRCC by way of whole-genome analyses of metastatic formalin-fixed samples, using OncoScan technology.

Aims: There is a need for the adequate distribution of healthcare resources in Southeast Asia. Many countries in the region have more patients with advanced breast cancer who are eligible for postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT). Therefore, it is critical that hypofractionated PMRT is effective in most of these patients.

However, as myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is most frequently diagnosed in the elderly, MSDs are also likely to be of advanced age. It is unclear whether an MSD should be considered the primary choice for allogeneic HCT in elderly patients with MDS.

Objective: The study aimed to evaluate the role of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in differentiating between primary benign and malignant soft tissue tumors (STTs).
Patients And Methods: The study was carried out on 110 patients with histopathological diagnoses of STTs. All patients underwent routine MRI before surgery/biopsy at Viet Duc University Hospital or Vietnam National Cancer Hospital, Hanoi, Vietnam, from January 2020 to October 2022.
mutations are uncommon in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), accounting for less than 5% of all NSCLC cases. The utilization of targeted therapies in non-V600E mutant NSCLC is considered controversial, although non-V600E genotype is reported in ~50% of all mutant patients. We document the case of a 63-year-old patient with NSCLC harbouring a rare E501Q mutation, who had prolonged response to immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy in Vietnam.

Identifying modifiable risk factors that contribute to cancer is essential in setting up preventive strategies. Therefore, this study aimed to estimate the number and proportion of cancer cases and deaths attributable to five behavior-related risk factors-tobacco smoking, second-hand smoking, alcohol consumption, high body mass index and insufficient physical activity in Vietnam in 2020. Population attributable fractions were calculated for relationships of risk factors and cancer types based on sufficient evidence according to IARC or strong evidence according to WCRF/AICR.

Background: Transoral robotic thyroidectomy (TORT) is one of the newest approaches and draws attention because of its cosmetic excellence. Here, we present our preliminary data from the initial 5 consecutive patients to explore the feasibility of three-port TORT without axillary incision.
Methods: From August 2022 to December 2022, we performed TORT using three ports via the da Vinci Xi system with three robotic arms.
This report summarizes the presentations and discussions in the first Asian Clinical Trials Network for Cancers (ATLAS) international symposium that was held on 24 April 2022, in Bangkok, Thailand, and hosted by the National Cancer Center Hospital (NCCH), co-hosted by the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), Clinical Research Malaysia (CRM) and the Thai Society of Clinical Oncology (TSCO), and supported by Embassy of Japan in Thailand. Since 2020, the NCCH has conducted the ATLAS project to enhance research environments and infrastructures to facilitate international clinical research and cancer genomic medicine in the Asian region. The purpose of the symposium was to discuss what we can achieve under the ATLAS project, to share the latest topics and common issues in cancer research and to facilitate mutual understanding.

Introduction And Importance: Papillary thyroid carcinoma is the most common type of malignancy in endocrine tumor. Women with breast cancer have an increased risk of developing thyroid cancer. Especially, patients with BRCA1 germline variants, which belong to the DNA DSB repair system, there may be a genetic susceptibility to thyroid cancer.

Chronic inflammation is a crucial driver of carcinogenesis in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Several studies have investigated the prognostic significance of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression in PDAC patients, obtaining conflicting results. Nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB), specificity protein 1 (Sp1), and c-Jun are known as the transcription factors of the gene.

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of particle therapy (proton beam therapy and carbon-ion radiotherapy) for esophageal cancer by analyzing prospective nationwide registry data from particle therapy facilities throughout Japan. Patients diagnosed with esophageal cancer who received particle therapy between May 2016 and June 2018 were recruited from the registries of 12 particle therapy centers in Japan. Eventually, we enrolled 174 patients who met the inclusion criteria.

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT), previously termed hemangiopericytoma, is a rare primary intracranial tumor. SFT is classified into grades I, II, and III with different prognoses; grade III tumor has malignant characteristics with a high probability of recurrence and extracranial metastasis. We report the case of a 63-year-old female patient admitted to the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital with headache, dizziness, nausea, ataxia, and loss of balance.

Breast cancer brain metastases are a challenging daily practice, and the biological link between gene mutations and metastatic spread to the brain remains to be determined. Here, we performed a meta-analysis on genomic data obtained from primary tumors, extracerebral metastases and brain metastases, to identify gene alterations associated with metastatic processes in the brain. Articles with relevant findings were selected using Medline via PubMed, from January 1999 up to February 2022.

People living with HIV (PLHIV) are considered a high-risk population for developing a severe form of COVID-19. Vaccination is still one of the most important modalities in combating the disease due to the lack of an effective treatment. This multicenter study was performed from September to December 2021 with the aim to analyze the intention of PLHIV to receive the COVID-19 vaccination based on an integrated behavior model (IBM) in Indonesia.

Even though the combined use of ultrasound (US) and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is recommended for the surveillance of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the utilization of AFP has its challenges, including accuracy dependent on its cut-off levels, degree of liver necroinflammation, and etiology of liver disease. Though various studies have demonstrated the utility of protein induced by vitamin K absence II (PIVKA-II) in surveillance, treatment monitoring, and predicting recurrence, it is still not recommended as a routine biomarker test. A panel of 17 experts from Asia-Pacific, gathered to discuss and reach a consensus on the clinical usefulness and value of PIVKA-II for the surveillance and treatment monitoring of HCC, based on six predetermined statements.
