The relationship between nanoliposomal irinotecan/fluorouracil/leucovorin (NFF) treatment outcomes and neutropenia in patients with pancreatic cancer has not been thoroughly examined. Thus, we conducted a retrospective analysis of data from patients with pancreatic cancer who were treated with NFF to investigate this relationship. Neutropenia was assessed according to the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events across three cutoffs: A (grade 0 versus grade 1-4), B (grades 0-1 versus 2-4), and C (grades 0-2 versus 3-4).

Cancer is still the leading cause of death worldwide. Despite advances in diagnosis, management with the rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin hydrochloride, vincristine sulfate, and prednisone (R-CHOP) chemotherapy regimen, and careful clinical and radiologic evaluation, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) still carries high recurrence in clinical practice. This case series aims to assess the potential of circulating free RNA as a biomarker for evaluating therapeutic responses in DLBCL.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are a crucial component in the tumor microenvironment (TME) of peritoneal metastasis (PM), where they contribute to tumor progression and metastasis via secretion of interleukin-6 (IL-6). Here, we investigated the role of IL-6 in PM of gastric cancer (GC) and assessed whether anti-IL-6 receptor antibody (anti-IL-6R Ab) could inhibit PM of GC. We conducted immunohistochemical analysis of IL-6 and α-smooth muscle (α-SMA) expressions in clinical samples of GC and PM, and investigated the interactions between CAFs and GC cells in vitro.

Tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) are ectopic immune cell clusters formed in nonlymphoid tissues affected by persistent inflammation, such as in cancer and prolonged infections. They have features of the structure and function of secondary lymphoid organs, featuring central CD20+ B cells, surrounded by CD3+ T cells, CD21+ follicular dendritic cells, and CD68+ macrophages, with a complex vascular system. TLS formation is governed by lymphotoxin-α1β2, TNF, and chemokines like CCL19, CCL21, and CXCL13, differing from secondary lymphoid organ development in developing later in life at sites of chronic inflammation.

As a scaffolding protein, Raf kinase binding protein (RKIP) is involved in a variety of cellular pathways, including the Raf-MEK-ERK-cascade. It acts as a negative regulator by binding to its partners, making it an attractive target in the development of therapeutic strategies for cancer. Despite its structural stability as a monomer, RKIP may form a dimer, resulting in the switching of binding partners.

Metastatic cancer accounts for most cancer-related deaths, and identifying specific molecular targets that contribute to metastatic progression is crucial for the development of effective treatments. Hypoxia, a feature of solid tumors, plays a role in cancer progression by inducing resistance to therapy and accelerating metastasis. Here, we report that CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein beta (C/EBPβ) transcriptionally regulates () and thus promotes migration and invasion of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells under hypoxic conditions.

Urothelial carcinoma (UC) is the most common histological subtype of bladder tumors; however, bladder cancer represents a heterogeneous group of diseases with at least 40 distinct histological subtypes. Among these, the 2022 World Health Organization classification of urinary tract tumors identifies a range of less common subtypes of invasive UC, formerly known as variants, which are considered high-grade tumors, including squamous cell, small-cell, sarcomatoid urothelial, micropapillary, plasmacytoid, and urachal carcinomas, and adenocarcinoma. Their accurate histological diagnosis is critical for risk stratification and therapeutic decision-making, as most subtype histologies are associated with poorer outcomes than conventional UC.
