Background: Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare lymphoid malignancy. Systemic profiling of the PCNSL tumor microenvironment (TME) was previously conducted through gene expression analysis. We investigated the prognostic impact of TME on survival to establish novel prognostic biomarkers in PCNSL patients.

Multiple devices are available for ESD, and refinements continue to be made to develop devices that improve the safety and efficiency of performing ESD. Submucosal injection with viscous fluids like glycerol, which prolong submucosal expansion, could facilitate the procedure.

PGA has been increasingly recognized as a histologically and molecularly distinct entity; however, its endoscopic features have not been precisely described. This study aims to investigate the endoscopic characteristics of duodenal PGA, including the association of their putative precursors, Brunner's gland hyperplasia (BGH), and gastric epithelial heterotopia/metaplasia (GEM/H).

However, the risk of sudden discontinuation of benzodiazepines and subsequent withdrawal delirium seems to be underappreciated and not properly recognized in cancer treatment, even among healthcare workers.
Case Presentation: A man in his late 70s was diagnosed with rectal cancer and had a history of taking etizolam and alprazolam for over 15 years.

In tongue cancer, many patients already have metastasis at the time of diagnosis, and such cases are usually unresponsive to treatment, resulting in a poor prognosis. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop more effective diagnostic and therapeutic methods to cure tongue cancer at the earliest possible stage in clinical practice. Follistatin-like 1 (FSTL1) is known as a negative effector molecule that induces and enhances the refractoriness of cancer cells directly and indirectly via suppressing anti-tumor immunity in various types of cancer.

Objectives: Although color information is important in gastrointestinal endoscopy, there are limited studies on how endoscopic images are viewed by people with color vision deficiency. We aimed to investigate the differences in the visibility of blood vessels during endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) among people with different color vision characteristics and to examine the effect of red dichromatic imaging (RDI) on blood vessel visibility.
Methods: Seventy-seven pairs of endoscopic images of white light imaging (WLI) and RDI of the same site were obtained during colorectal ESD.
Background: Zinc (Zn), an essential trace element, has an adverse influence on the prognosis of several cancers. However, the association between the preoperative serum Zn level and outcomes in patients with advanced esophageal cancer in the current neoadjuvant treatment era remains unclear.
Methods: This study involved 185 patients with esophageal cancer who underwent R0 surgery after neoadjuvant chemotherapy from August 2017 to February 2021.

The year 2024 is the 20 anniversary of the discovery of activating epidermal growth factor receptor () mutations in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Since then, tremendous advances have been made in the treatment of NSCLC based on this discovery. Some of these studies have led to seismic changes in the concept of oncology research and spurred treatment advances beyond NSCLC, leading to a current true era of precision oncology for all solid tumors.

It is known that delirium occasionally occurs after the onset of Trousseau syndrome. However, there have been no detailed reports about treatment for psychiatric symptoms of delirium associated with Trousseau syndrome.

However, some patients with nodal metastasis to #10 survive more than 5 years due to nodal dissection of #10. If nodal metastasis to #10 is predictable based on the positivity of other nodes dissected by the current standard surgery without #10 nodal dissection, physicians may be able to consider #10 dissection.

In this study, we introduce a novel concept of oligometastasis in post-surgical pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients with hepatic recurrence, which we call "oligo-like liver metastasis (OLLM)." Patients with OLLM have better post-recurrence prognosis and could therefore be eligible for surgical intervention.

This Japanese nationwide survey analyzed patients with AML ( = 22) and mixed phenotype acute leukemia (MPAL) ( = 10) with t(9;22) or who underwent allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) between 2002 and 2018. The 3-year overall survival (OS) rates were 81.

Targeting immune inhibitory checkpoint (IC) pathways have attracted great attention as a promising strategy for treating gastrointestinal (GI) cancer. However, the therapeutic efficacy is low in most cases, and little progress has been made in establishing biomarkers that predict the possible responses, and combination regimens that enhance the therapeutic efficacy. As a predictive biomarker, soluble forms of IC molecules have been recently highlighted.

Aim: The aim of this study was to clarify the significance of resection of ovarian metastases from colorectal cancer and to identify the clinicopathologic characteristics.
Methods: In this multicenter retrospective study, we evaluated data on ovarian metastases from colorectal cancer obtained from patients at 20 centers in Japan between 2000 and 2014. We examined the impact of resection on the prognosis of patients with ovarian metastases and examined prognostic factors.
Objective: The objective of this study is to validate the predictive ability of the 2021 European Association of Urology (EAU) risk model compared to that of existing risk models, including the 2019 EAU model and risk scoring tables of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer, Club Urologico Espanol de Tratamiento Oncologico, and Japanese Nishinihon Uro-oncology Extensive Collaboration Group.
Patients And Methods: This retrospective multi-institutional database study included two cohorts-3024 patients receiving intravesical bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) treatment (BCG cohort) and 789 patients not receiving BCG treatment (non-BCG cohort). The Kaplan-Meier estimate and log-rank test were used to visualize and compare oncological survival outcomes after transurethral surgery among the risk groups.

Aim: Gastrectomy is recommended for patients with early gastric cancer (EGC) because the possibility of lymph node metastasis (LNM) cannot be completely denied. The aim of this study was to develop a discrimination model to select patients who do not require surgery using machine learning.
Methods: Data from 382 patients who received gastrectomy for gastric cancer and who were diagnosed with pT1b were extracted for developing a discrimination model.
Aim: Tumor rupture has been indicated as a risk factor for recurrence of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs). The universal definition of tumor rupture was proposed. This study evaluated whether the universal definition was more accurate in identification of GISTs with high recurrent risk than subjective judgment.

We aimed to determine the lymph node metastasis rate and short-term results of radical surgery with extended lymph node dissection in right-sided colon cancer.
Methods: This prospective multicenter observational study included patients with stage II/III right-sided colon cancer from five cancer hospitals.
