Nuclear energy (NE) is seen as a reliable choice for ensuring the security of the world's energy supply, and it has only lately begun to be advocated as a strategy for reducing climate change in order to meet low-carbon energy transition goals. To achieve flexible operation across a wide operating range when it participates in peak regulation in the power systems, the pressurised water reactor (PWR) NE systems must overcome the nonlinearity problem induced by the substantial variation. In light of this viewpoint, the objective of this work is to evaluate the reactor core (main component) of the NE system via different recent optimization techniques.

The heliostat field layout in a central receiver solar thermal power plant has significant optical losses that can ultimately affect the overall output power of the plant. In this paper, an optimized heliostat field layout based on annual efficiency and power of 50 MW for the local coordinates of Quetta, Pakistan, is proposed. The performance of two different heliostat field layouts such as radial staggered and Fermat's spiral distribution are evaluated and different design points in a year are considered for the analysis.

This paper focuses on a CCHP (Combined Cooling, Heating and Power) system based on co-firing in an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) of biogas from anaerobic digestion and syngas produced by biomass gasification. From an energy perspective, in order for the mixture to make sense, a relationship setting the threshold percentage of methane in the biogas has been established. Gasification and Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) models developed in Aspen Plus software and thermodynamic modeling of the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) have been validated by comparison with experimental work conducted by other authors.

Solar energy, a prominent renewable resource, relies on photovoltaic systems (PVS) to capture energy efficiently. The challenge lies in maximizing power generation, which fluctuates due to changing environmental conditions like irradiance and temperature. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques have been developed to optimize PVS output.

Background: Acetaminophen-induced liver injury remains a significant public health problem because available treatments are limited due to their adverse effects. Medicinal plants, which are an important source of bioactive molecules, could be an alternative treatment for liver disease.
Objective: This study was designed to investigate the curative effect of aqueous extracts of (Vitaceae) and (Euphorbiaceae) on acetaminophen-induced liver injury in mice.

The objective of this study was to assess the antioxidant activities of three plant extracts ( leaves, fruits, and leaves) and to evaluate their effects on the preservation of fish polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) during smoking and sun-drying processes. PUFAs are highly prone to oxidation during fish processing. The plant extracts were analyzed for their polyphenol contents and were evaluated for their total antiradical capacity.

The objective of this article aims to reduce indoor air pollution through the use of ecological fire starter (EFS) made from sawdust and vegetable oils. In the Far North region of Cameroon, plastic waste is used to ignite and stoke solid fuels fires, exposing mainly women and children who are responsible for cooking to health risks from indoor air pollution. Thus, the survey conducted among the population of the region shows that 96% of urban households use plastics waste made with LDPE, HDPE, PET, PS, PP and EVA as fire starter for solid fuels.

The Esperanza Window Trap (EWT) has been shown to be an effective tool for reducing black fly densities. Several shape-based improvements to this trapping system have been made to optimise its effectiveness, but optimisation of this trapping system has been based most often on the shape of the trap, collection in areas of high black fly density and the addition of attractants, without considering transmission potentials and parity rates.

Taken separately, a single sweet sorghum stem bioconversion process for bioethanol and biomethane production only leads to a partial conversion of organic matter. The direct fermentation of crushed whole stem coupled with the methanization of the subsequent solid residues in a two-stage process was experimented to improve energy bioconversion yield, efficiency, and profitability. The raw stalk calorific value was 17,144.

The recent 6th Assessment Report by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has been damning to the world. An overwhelming amount of evidence that Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) can contribute to stabilising or reversing the course of impacts of climate change is now common. Given the likely update of NDC measures compounded by their complexities and limited resources, it is imperative to adopt effective Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) systems to ensure that NDCs achieve their planned objectives.

This paper investigates a non-homogeneous two-dimensional model for reproducing chemotactic bacteria, immersed in a porous medium that experiences non-uniformly imposed flows. It is shown that independently of the form of the fluid velocity field, the compressible/incompressible nature of the fluid significantly shifts the Turing stability-instability transition line. In dry media, Gaussian perturbations travel faster than the hyperbolic secant ones, yet the latter exhibit better stability properties.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA) published a priority list of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are compounds that are studied in a variety of matrices due to their wide range of risks. Environmental compartments can be contaminated with PAHs from different sources, such as wastewater from industries and petroleum spills. For the case of Cameroon, there are no recorded data concerning the sources, distributions, and toxicity levels of PAHs in water and sediment from Cameroon beaches which are found in South-West, Littoral, and South Regions.

In this work, a cyclic voltammetry analysis for the detection of Ascorbic Acid (AA) based on a carbon-clay paste electrode modified with titanium dioxide (CPEA/TiO) is presented. The electrochemical sensor was prepared using clay and carbon graphite, mixed with TiO to investigate the electrode behavior towards the detection of AA. Comprehensive characterization approaches including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Selected area electron diffraction (SAED), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR) were carried out on different samples.

Volatile global oil prices, owing to the scarcity of fossil resources, have impacted the cost of producing petrochemicals. Therefore, there is a need to seek novel, renewable chemicals from biomass feedstocks that have comparable properties to petrochemicals. In this study, synthesis, thermal and mechanical properties, and degradability studies of a novel series of sustainable thiophene-based copolyesters like poly(hexylene 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylate-co-bis(2-hydroxyethoxybenzene) (PTBH) were conducted via a controlled melt polymerization method.

Objectives And Setting: Across sub-Saharan Africa, urogenital schistosomiasis (UGS), in particular female genital schistosomiasis (FGS), is a significant waterborne parasitic disease, with its direct burden on the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) of sufferers infrequently measured. UGS has an established control plan, which in most endemic regions as in Cameroon, still excludes FGS considerations. Highlighting existent associations between UGS and FGS could increase the management of FGS within UGS interventions.

Facial classification in admittance restriction and video inspection is typically amidst the open-ended applications, where suitable models have been offered to meet users' needs. While it is true that subsequent efforts have led to the proposal of powerful facial recognition models, limiting factors affecting the quality of the results are always considered.

Composition and technofunctional properties of the almond flours of 12 mango varieties from savannah zones of Cameroon (Central Africa) are assessed in order to highlight their potential use in breadmaking, through their effect on dough rheology. The compositions of almonds display starch as the major constituent (60-65%) with more than 80% of amylopectin and a significant presence of phenolic compounds (1-7%), lipids (7-13%), and proteins (4-7%), depending on mango varieties, with local varieties showing the highest polyphenol and lipid contents. Almond flours are characterized by high WAC (water absorption capacity) and OAC (oil absorption capacity) and pasting properties influenced by starch lipid and starch protein complexes.
