Spatial association network structure of agricultural carbon emission efficiency in Chinese cities and its driving factors.

In light of the Chinese government's dual carbon goals, achieving cleaner production activities has become a central focus, with regional environmental collaborative governance, including the management of agricultural carbon reduction, emerging as a mainstream approach. This study examines 268 prefecture-level cities in China, measuring the carbon emission efficiency of city agriculture from 2001 to 2022. By integrating social network analysis and a modified gravity model, the study reveals the characteristics of the spatial association network of city agricultural carbon emission efficiency in China.

Association between physical activity levels and stroke risk among Chinese adults aged 45 and over based on CHARLS.

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death in developing countries, and China bears the largest global burden of stroke. This study aims to investigate the relationship between different dimensions of physical activity levels and stroke risk using a nationally representative database. The European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) is a wide-ranging, long-living freshwater species with low reproductive success, mainly due to high predation pressure. We studied how habitat variables and predator communities in near-natural marshes affect the survival of turtle eggs and hatchlings. We followed the survival of artificial turtle nests placed in marshes along Lake Balaton (Hungary) in May and June as well as hatchlings (dummies) exposed in September.

Multilayer network analysis in patients with end-stage kidney disease.

This study aimed to investigate alterations in a multilayer network combining structural and functional layers in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) compared with healthy controls. In all, 38 ESKD patients and 43 healthy participants were prospectively enrolled. They exhibited normal brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) without any structural lesions.

The dynamics of capillary flow in an open-channel system featuring trigger valves.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Revised Indebtedness Scale (IS-R-C) in mainland China. A total of 1057 university students participated in this study using a two-wave whole-group sampling method. Sample 1, consisting of 537 participants, was used for item analysis and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) of the Revised Indebtedness Scale (IS-R).

Maternal mortality in Italy estimated by the Italian Obstetric Surveillance System.

This study aimed to calculate Italy's first national maternal mortality ratio (MMR) through an innovative record-linkage approach within the enhanced Italian Obstetric Surveillance System (ItOSS). A record-linkage retrospective cohort study was conducted nationwide, encompassing all women aged 11-59 years with one or more hospitalizations related to pregnancy or pregnancy outcomes from 2011 to 2019. Maternal deaths were identified by integrating data from the Death Registry and national and regional Hospital Discharge Databases supported by the integration of findings from confidential enquiries conducted through active surveillance.

Augmented prediction of vertebral collapse after osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures through parameter-efficient fine-tuning of biomedical foundation models.

Vertebral collapse (VC) following osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) often requires aggressive treatment, necessitating an accurate prediction for early intervention. This study aimed to develop a predictive model leveraging deep neural networks to predict VC progression after OVCF using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and clinical data. Among 245 enrolled patients with acute OVCF, data from 200 patients were used for the development dataset, and data from 45 patients were used for the test dataset.

Cross sectional associations of physical activity and sleep with mental health among Chinese university students.

Objective: This study aimed to examine the levels of physical activity (PA), sleep, and mental health (MH), specifically depression, anxiety, and stress, among Chinese university students. It also aimed to analyze the influencing factors of MH, providing a theoretical foundation for developing intervention programs to improve college students' mental health.

To understand the action mechanism of probiotics against postmenopausal symptoms, we examined the effects of Lactococcus lactis P32 (P) and Bifidobacterium bifidum P45 (P), which suppressed interleukin (IL)-6 and receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB (RANK) ligand (RNAKL) expression in Gardnerella vaginalis (Gv)-stimulated macrophages, on vaginitis, osteoporosis, and depression/cognitive impairment (DC) in mice with vaginally infected Gv, ovariectomy (Ov), or Ov/Gv (oG). Oral administration of P or P decreased Gv-induced DC-like behavior and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, IL-6, RANK, and/or RANKL expression in the vagina, bone, hypothalamus, hippocampus, and colon, while Gv-suppressed bone osteoprotegerin and brain serotonin and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels increased. They partially shifted vaginal and gut dysbiosis in Gv-infected mice to the gut microbiota composition in normal control mice.
