Introduction: Victims of interpersonal violence in sports show various mental health concerns. However, no studies have quantitatively examined their primary complaints, considering psychological symptoms such as denial of self-concept and interpersonal challenges not captured by conventional post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Recently, an association between interpersonal violence victimization and complex PTSD (CPTSD) has been noted in Japanese sports coaching situations, specifically for extracurricular sports activities.

This study introduced the concept of inter-minority empathy, defined as empathy for the experiences of other minorities based on one's own experience as a minority, derived from interviews with LGBTQ+ allies. In addition, it developed the Inter-Minority Empathy Scale to measure this concept. The scale's reliability and validity were examined, and hypothesis testing was conducted.

Background: Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is a common mental disorder in adolescents and young adults. Early intervention and support could help prevent the development of full-blown SAD. Considering that adolescents with social anxiety symptoms do not prefer face-to-face sessions due to their fear of communicating with therapists, internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) was implemented.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, such people remained disconnected from their families and friends, for which reason many of them experience anxiety, stress and inability to enjoy leisure activities. Given the lockdown circumstances, we decided to use for the first time in the field telepractice to provide Dohsa-hou.

Introduction: In the context of collective efforts taken in Japan to control the spread of COVID-19, the state of emergency and social distancing have caused a negative impact on the mental health of all residents, including foreign communities in Japan. This study aimed to evaluate the level of anxiety and its associated factors among non-Japanese residents residing in Japan during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: A web-based survey in 13 languages was conducted among non-Japanese residents living in Japan during the COVID-19 situation.

When participants control periodic isometric force cycling between two target forces, they more accurately control force in a joint action than in an individual action. In some other studies, however, individuals tend to outperform dyads in joint action. The present study thus examined experimental conditions in which dyads outperformed individuals in a task of force produced by two people.

The pretreatment method with ionic liquids (ILs) is convenient for scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation of biological specimens. It needs neither fixation nor vacuum vapor deposition of metals to prevent fracture, deformation and charge-up. Although it was pointed out that the reason why the specimens are not fractured or deformed under the vacuum without fixation is the penetration of the ILs into cells and replacement with the intercellular water of the specimen, the experimental results were not yet self-consistent.

The Bonabeau model of self-organized hierarchy formation is studied by using a piecewise linear approximation to the sigmoid function. Simulations of the piecewise-linear agent model show that there exist two-level and three-level hierarchical solutions and that each agent exhibits a transition from nonergodic to ergodic behaviors. Furthermore, by using a mean-field approximation to the agent model, it is analytically shown that there are asymmetric two-level solutions, even though the model equation is symmetric (asymmetry is introduced only through the initial conditions) and that linearly stable and unstable three-level solutions coexist.

Introduction: A careful assessment of dental anxiety is necessary for its management. The Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS) is one of the most commonly used questionnaires to measure dental anxiety in the world. The reliability and validity of the Japanese version of MDAS have been demonstrated using undergraduates and a few patients with dental anxiety.

Purpose: Poor sleep quality has been reported to be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome, as well as mental disorders including depression and anxiety. However, few studies have investigated the association between sleep quality and diet in young males. We aimed to assess this association, adjusting for psychological factors.

The rising older population in Japan is associated with a rise in cases of dementia. Support for the increased number of family caregivers of people living with dementia is crucial, as caring may negatively affect a family caregiver's health. This study seeks to evaluate the feasibility and applicability of a recently developed Japanese version of START (STrAtegies for RelaTives).

Introduction: Arterial spin labeling (ASL) is a non-invasive magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique that can measure regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) without radiation exposure. This study aimed to evaluate rCBF in individuals with autism and their age-matched controls, globally and regionally.
Methods: We performed ASL MRI (3 T, pulsed-continuous ASL, 3 delayed ASL imaging sequences) for 33 patients with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) (average age: 7.

Experiments were done to investigate the role of glutamatergic systems in the median preoptic nucleus (MnPO) in the water ingestion induced by administration of angiotensin II (ANG II) in the subfornical organ (SFO) in the awake rat. Microdialysis methods were utilized to quantify the extracellular content of glutamate (Glu) in the region of MnPO. Microinjection of ANG II (10 M) into the SFO significantly increased the release of Glu in the MnPO in the rats under the condition that water is available for drinking and the rats under the condition that water is not available for drinking.

We investigate Brownian motion with diffusivity alternately fluctuating between fast and slow states. We assume that sojourn-time distributions of these two states are given by exponential or power-law distributions. We develop a theory of alternating renewal processes to study a relaxation function which is expressed with an integral of the diffusivity over time.

Various cells from humans and animals have been established as cell lines, and their features, characteristics, and origins have been reported. Many laboratories use cell lines as model cells, which are selected to suit research purposes. We attempted to identify the ABO genotypes of 31 human leukemia and lymphoma cell lines stored in our laboratory using three methods: the PCR amplification of specific alleles (PASA), PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP), and the direct DNA sequencing of PCR products.
