Background: Oxidative stress has been implicated in various disorders including epilepsy. We studied the antioxidant status in patients with epilepsy and aimed at determining whether there was any difference in the antioxidant levels between patients and controls, patients who are not on antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), and on treatment, between individual AEDs and patients on monotherapy and polytherapy.

Acquired central and peripheral demyelination in the same patient is a very rare feature. Pathological criteria alone do not make an accurate diagnosis of parathyroid carcinoma in cases of well-defined organ contained lesion without local and distant metastasis. Intra-operative appearance of pale, grayish, firm tumor is highly suggestive of parathyroid carcinoma, even though this finding is not included in the pathological criteria for diagnosing a malignancy. Gross features of the tumor also should be added to the pathological criteria so as to ensure an accurate assessment of the biological behavior of the parathyroid tumor.

Pituitary hyperplasia with hyperprolactinemia has been described as a rare presentation of primary hypothyroidism. A 12-y-old child presented with intermittent headache, easy fatigability, coarseness of facial features, and hoarseness of voice for 6 mo duration. Brain imaging findings showed pituitary hyperplasia; hormonal assessment revealed primary hypothyroidism and hyperprolactinemia.
