An Anterior Abdominal Abscess as the Initial Presentation of a Perforated Duodenal Ulcer: A Case Report.

Duodenal perforation most commonly presents with life-threatening symptoms of acute abdomen. However, in rare cases, a perforation may have an indolent course due to subclinical progression, and the patient may present with complications at the first visit. We present a case of an anterior abdominal abscess as the initial presentation of a duodenal perforation in a 65-year-old female with no pre-morbidities.

Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis in a Six-Year-Old Child: A Case Report.

Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is a rare autoimmune demyelinating disorder that primarily affects the central nervous system (CNS). It is characterized by an acute inflammatory response targeting the myelin sheath surrounding nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord. The exact mechanism of ADEM is not fully understood, but it is believed to involve an abnormal immune response that leads to the activation of immune cells and subsequent inflammation within the CNS.

Preprocedural ultrasonography as an adjunct to landmark technique for identification of epidural space in parturients for labor analgesia.

Background: Pregnancy-induced softening of tissues and ligaments may increase the false-positive rates when identifying the epidural space in parturients by the landmark technique. To mitigate these problems, Ultrasonography (USG), which has now become the eye of anesthesiologists, can be used as a reliable tool to facilitate more accurate epidural needle placement in parturients. This study was conducted to know the efficacy of USG when compared to the traditional landmark method.

Background And Aims: Disparity in spread of spinal anesthesia is a known complication in scoliosis patients. Our primary aim was to compare this disparity based on Cobb Angle and thorocolumbar spine curvature. Secondary aim was to calculate the appropriate lateral angulation of the spinal needle from midline for successful lumbar puncture.

Objective: The objective of the study was to estimate the parameters of the temporal cognition and autonomic function of paramedical staffs in acute health-care settings.

Materials And Methods: In this study on 81 healthy adult paramedical personnel, temporal cognition was assessed using auditory reaction time (ART), visual reaction time (VRT), critical flicker fusion frequency (CFFF), Stroop test (ST), and digits forward test (DFT); Autonomic functions were assessed by heart rate (HR) and blood pressure (BP) variability, and all these outcomes were analyzed with their academic performance.

A 46-year-old male presented with a history of sudden severe headache 1 week back, altered sensorium and right hemiparesis for 2 days. On examination, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) was E4V4M6 and the patient had right hemiparesis (power - 4/5). Computed tomography (CT) revealed diffuse subarachnoid hemorrhage (Fisher's Grade III).

Persistent Enlarged Occipital Sinus with Absent Unilateral Transverse Sinus.

The occipital sinus may occasionally remain patent, but the incidence is extremely low and observed in less than 10% of cases. A persistent patent occipital sinus (POS) may be associated with other venous sinus abnormality. The absence of transverse sinus in association with POS is an extremely rare condition and not reported yet.

Single stage, single approach, complete, and safe surgical removal while preserving the spinal stability is the mainstay of treatment of giant lumbar extradural Schwannomas. In the present case, we report a case of a 9-year-old male child studying in 2 standard presented with pain in both thighs and legs for 3 months.

Yet, growth of road network has brought road crashes leading to civic pain from premature deaths of productive age group. In 2017, 16 citizens were killed and 53 injured every hour on Indian roads as per officially reported data, while a fair number go unreported.
