The aim of our study was to reveal the prevalence and intraspecies dissemination of quinolone-resistant Escherichia coli (QREC) in sika deer (Cervus nippon) in Nara Park, a famous tourist spot in Japan. Fecal samples were collected from 59 wild deer in Nara Park between July and October 2018.

In the present study, to examine the presence of aquaporin in Paramecium, we carried out RT-PCR with degenerated primers designed based on the ParameciumDB, and an aquaporin cDNA (aquaporin 1, aqp1) with a full-length ORF encoding 251 amino acids was obtained from Paramecium multimicronucleatum by using RACE. The deduced amino acid sequence of AQP1 had NPA-NPG motifs, and the prediction of protein secondary structure by CNR5000 and hydropathy plot showed the presence of six putative transmembrane domains and five connecting loops.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the effect of continuing and discontinuing medications on quality of life of patients with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Data Sources: PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases were searched using generic terms for ADHD, discontinuing, continuing, pharmacotherapy, and randomized controlled trials without date or language restrictions.

Study Selection: Of the 3,672 screened studies, 9 met the predefined inclusion criteria on patients with ADHD; 5 of these 9 studies reporting on 1,463 patients (children and adolescents, n = 894; adults, n = 569) measured quality of life and were included in this meta-analysis.

Hitomi X-ray studies of Giant Radio Pulses from the Crab pulsar.

To search for giant X-ray pulses correlated with the giant radio pulses (GRPs) from the Crab pulsar, we performed a simultaneous observation of the Crab pulsar with the X-ray satellite Hitomi in the 2 - 300 keV band and the Kashima NICT radio observatory in the 1.4 - 1.7 GHz band with a net exposure of about 2 ks on 25 March 2016, just before the loss of the Hitomi mission.

Catalytic cyclization of amides of ethenetricarboxylate bearing ether and acetal groups has been examined. The reaction of the amides bearing cyclic ether and acetal groups in the presence of Lewis acid such as Sc(OTf) gave spirocyclic piperidine derivatives as major products. The cyclized products may be formed via intramolecular hydride transfer.

Direct Detection of Aqueous CO by Infrared Waveguide Spectroscopy with an Amorphous Fluoropolymer Coating Rod.

Infrared waveguide spectroscopy using a sapphire rod coated with an amorphous fluoropolymer (Cytop, Asahi Glass Co., ltd, Japan) has been developed in order to directly observe CO in aqueous solutions. Since the amorphous fluoropolymer has a relatively high gas-permeability and hydrophobic feature, the aqueous CO transmits into the amorphous fluoropolymer coating film, but water cannot penetrate into the film.

We report the observation of a Chern structure in the Bose-insulating phase of SrRuO nanofilms by employing electric transport. We observed the superconductor-to-insulator transition by reducing the thickness of SrRuO single crystals.
