Background: The clinical outcome of ureteral obstruction secondary to gastric cancer remains unclear. The present study was designed to evaluate the clinical outcome and predictive factors of survival in patients with ureteral obstruction secondary to gastric cancer.
Methods: Twenty-five consecutive patients with ureteral obstruction secondary to gastric cancer between January 1998 and December 2007 were retrospectively analyzed.

A 72-year-old man with subacute right upper limb palsy was diagnosed with cerebral infarction at another hospital. However, the head magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans showed no abnormalities. He was later transferred to our hospital because of cognitive dysfunctions.

The purpose of this study was to compare culprit coronary plaque characteristics between female and male patients with stable angina using virtual histology intravascular ultrasound (VH-IVUS). The target population consisted of three hundred and sixty-four consecutive patients with stable angina who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) after VH-IVUS. The baseline characteristics and VH-IVUS results were compared between 72 female and 292 male patients.

Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are uncommon neoplasms of mesenchymal origin that usually arise from the pleura. SFTs of the abdominal wall are extremely rare, and only 12 cases have been reported in the English language literature. This report presents a new case of SFT of the abdominal wall in a 74-year-old female.

Background: The clinical outcome of malignant biliary obstruction caused by metastatic gastric cancer remains unclear. This study was designed to evaluate the clinical outcome and predictive factors of survival in patients who underwent percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) for malignant biliary obstruction caused by metastatic gastric cancer.
Methods: Between April 1997 and March 2006, 38 consecutive patients with malignant biliary obstruction caused by metastatic gastric cancer were retrospectively analyzed.

Background: A phase I/II study of docetaxel (DOC) and gemcitabine (GEM) combination for treatment-resistant ovarian cancer (OC) was conducted.
Materials And Methods: Eligible patients exhibited recurrent OC within 12 months after initial treatment, or after more than 2 chemotherapy regimens. Planned dose levels (DL) were as follows: DOC 70 mg/m(2), GEM 800 mg/m(2) (DL1); DOC 70 mg/m(2), GEM 1000 mg/m(2) (DL2).

Surgical treatment is indicated in patients who present clinical symptoms for intracranial dural arteriovenous fistula and retrograde cortical venous filling on cerebral angiography. Further, surgery is indicated in those patients that cannot be cured by endovascular procedures. For dural arteriovenous fistulas in the anterior fossa, tentorium, craniovertebral junction or convex, surgery was considered as the first option.

Background: Propofol and droperidol decrease the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). We investigated the incidence of PONV after total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) with propofol alone versus combined use of droperidol and propofol.
Methods: Eighty three patients, who had undergone laparoscopic gynecologic surgery with TIVA using propofol and fentanyl, were retrospectively evaluated whether droperidol had affected the incidence of early (up to six hours postoperatively) and late (6-24 hours postoperatively) PONV.
