Association between circadian skin temperature rhythms and actigraphic sleep measures in real-life settings.

Study Objectives: Skin temperature manipulation with little or no change in core body temperature affects sleep-wake states; however, the association of 24-hour skin temperature variation with sleep quality has not been investigated in a large-scale population. We examined the association between the circadian rhythm of distal skin temperature and sleep quality in real-life settings and aimed to provide additional evidence of the link between thermoregulation and sleep-wake states.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study of 2,187 community-dwelling adults, we measured distal skin temperature at the ventral forearm at 3-minute intervals for 7 consecutive days to calculate nonparametric indicators of a circadian skin temperature rhythm, including intradaily variability, interdaily stability, and relative amplitude.

Background: Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is necessary to prevent thromboembolic complications after stent-assisted coiling (SAC) or flow-diversion (FD) for cerebral aneurysms, but the optimal antiplatelet regimen remains unclear.

Objective: To determine the optimal DAPT duration in patients with SAC/FD.

Methods: This multicenter cohort study enrolled patients who received SAC/FD for cerebral aneurysms at seven Japanese institutions between January 2010 and December 2020.

The Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report (JADER) database is a spontaneous reporting system (SRS) that can be utilized to analyze the safety signals of adverse events. In this study, we investigated the association between drug use and the onset of appendicitis using the JADER database.

Parents' Fears about Hospital Visits and Trait Anxiety in the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Anxiety in parents of children with allergic diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic may impact hospital visits. This study explored the effect of the pandemic on parents' fears about hospital visits and their relationship with their personality traits. A cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study was conducted between September 2020 and March 2021, with parents of children aged 0-15 years, who regularly visited 24 outpatient facilities for allergic disease.

Circadian variability of objective sleep measures predicts the relapse of a mood episode in bipolar disorder: findings from the APPLE cohort.

Aim: Sleep disturbance, a core feature of bipolar disorder, is closely associated with mood symptoms. We examined the association between actigraphy sleep parameters and mood episode relapses in patients with bipolar disorder.

Methods: This prospective cohort study analyzed 193 outpatients with bipolar disorder who participated in the Association between the Pathology of Bipolar Disorder and Light Exposure in Daily Life (APPLE) cohort study.

Surgical and Endovascular Treatments for Asymptomatic Arteriovenous Fistulas at the Craniocervical Junction: A Multicenter Study.

Objective: Asymptomatic craniocervical junction arteriovenous fistulas (CCJ AVFs) are rare and, thus, a consensus has not yet been reached regarding the indication of surgical interventions. This retrospective multicenter cohort study investigated the risks associated with surgery for asymptomatic CCJ AVFs and discussed the indication of surgical interventions.

Methods: Using data from 111 consecutive patients with CCJ AVFs registered with the Neurospinal Society of Japan between 2009 and 2019, we analyzed the treatment, complications, and outcomes of 18 patients with asymptomatic CCJ AVF.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is known to be associated with several diagnostic resting-state electroencephalography (EEG) patterns, including the theta/beta ratio, but no objective predictive markers for each medication. In this study, we explored EEG markers with which the therapeutic efficacy of medications could be estimated at the 1st clinical visit. Thirty-two ADHD patients and thirty-one healthy subjects participated in this study.

Aim: Eye movements and cognitive functions are significantly impaired in patients with schizophrenia. The authors aimed to develop promising clinical diagnostic markers that fit practical digital health applications in psychiatry using eye movement and cognitive function data from 1254 healthy individuals and 336 patients with schizophrenia.

Methods: Multivariate analyses using logistic regression were performed to confirm net performance of eye movements and cognitive functions scored using the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Third Edition, and Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised.

Circadian blood pressure variability and asymmetric dimethylarginine in patients with glaucoma: cross-sectional study of The LIGHT cohort.

Objective: Glaucoma is reportedly associated with asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) and circadian blood pressure (BP) variability, including night-time SBP. We determined whether ADMA level is associated with night-time SBP in patients with glaucoma.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we measured the serum ADMA level and ambulatory BP of 163 patients with glaucoma and 705 participants without glaucoma.

The aim of this study was to quantify the risk of mesothelioma death associated with neighborhood asbestos exposure due to a large-scale asbestos-cement (AC) plant in Amagasaki, Japan, adjusting properly risk factors including occupational exposures. We conducted a nested case-control study in which a fixed population of 143,929 residents who had been living in Amagasaki City between 1975 and 2002 were followed from 2002 to 2015.

Association of adverse childhood experience-related increase in neurite density with sensory over-responsivity in autism spectrum disorder: A neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging study.

Sensory over-responsivity (SOR) causes social and daily distress in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Compared to typically developed (TD) individuals, ASD individuals are at higher risk of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), which induce abnormal neuronal development. However, whether or how ACEs are associated with abnormal neural development and SOR in ASD remains to be determined.

Comparison of rush-subcutaneous and sublingual immunotherapy with house dust mite extract for pediatric allergic rhinitis: A prospective cohort study.
