Background: Characterizing Cladribine tablets prescription pattern in daily clinical practice is crucial for optimizing multiple sclerosis (MS) treatment.
Objectives: To describe efficacy, safety profile and new disease-modifying therapy (DMT) prescriptions following Cladribine treatment.
Design: Independent retrospective cohort study in patients followed at six Italian MS centres.
Endometriosis, though not classified as a carcinogenic condition, shares features such as oxidative stress, migration, invasion, angiogenesis, and inflammation with tumor cells. This study aims to review the effects of flavonoids on these processes and their molecular mechanisms in preventing and treating endometriosis. A comprehensive review was conducted, involving a literature search in online databases using keywords like "endometriosis," "endometrioma," and "flavonoid.

Hypergammaglobulinemia is a sign of B cell and plasma cell hyperactivity marked by elevated levels of gamma globulins, proteins within the gamma fraction of serum electrophoresis, linked to diseases like acute hepatitis, Hodgkin's lymphoma, autoimmune conditions, and neoplasms. Monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) is found in 3.2% of individuals over 50 and 5.

Background: The Naples prognostic score (NPS) and its relation to the prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) have been inconclusive. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between NPS and the prognosis of postoperative OSCC patients. Additionally, the study sought to develop a new nomogram for predicting disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS).

Purpose: Dimethyl fumarate (DMF), the first-line oral therapy for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, is rapidly metabolized into monomethyl fumarate. The DMF oral administration provokes gastrointestinal discomfort causing treatment withdrawal. The present study aimed to develop an innovative formulation for DMF nasal administration.

Nanoplastics (NPs) are plastic particles, typically less than 100 nm in size, that result from daily life products as well as the degradation of larger plastic debris. Due to their small size and chemical composition, they can interact with biological systems in ways that larger plastic particles cannot. Humans are continuously exposed to NPs and several studies showed the potentially toxic effects of these latter on health.

Personality can be considered a system characterized by complex dynamics that are extremely adaptive depending on continuous interactions with the environment and situations. The present preliminary study explores the dynamic interplay between brain flexibility and personality by taking the dynamic approach to personality into account, thereby drawing from Cloninger's psychobiological model. 46 healthy individuals were recruited, and their brain dynamics were assessed using magnetoencephalography (MEG) during the resting state.

Cardiac masses encompass a diverse range of benign and malignant tumors as well as pseudotumors. Accurate histologic identification is essential for guiding appropriate treatment, yet the diagnostic process remains challenging. Although biopsy is traditionally the diagnostic gold standard, its invasive nature and associated risks limit its application.

In recent years, nano and micro drug delivery systems targeting the colon have gained more attention due to increasing interest in treating colon diseases such as colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease, , Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Usually, nanocarriers are exploited for their enhanced permeability properties, allowing higher penetration effects and bioavailability, while microcarriers are primarily used for localized and sustained release. In bowel diseases, carriers must go into a delicate environment with a strict balance of gut bacteria (, colon), and natural or biodegradable polymers capable of ensuring lower toxicity are preferred.

Introduction: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) of the body/tail is notably different than PDAC in the head of the pancreas. Surgery plus chemotherapy is known to improve outcomes for all PDAC. The sequence of this therapy is well studied in head cancers yet has never been evaluated systematically in relation to distal pancreatectomy (DP).

Background: Deformed wing virus (DWV) is a major honey bee pathogen that is actively transmitted by the parasitic mite Varroa destructor and plays a primary role in Apis mellifera winter colony losses. Despite intense investigation on this pollinator, which has a unique environmental and economic importance, the mechanisms underlying the molecular interactions between DWV and honey bees are still poorly understood. Here, we report on a group of honey bee proteins, identified by mass spectrometry, that specifically co-immunoprecipitate with DWV virus particles.

Background And Aim: The Naples Prognostic Score (NPS) predicts outcomes in various diseases, but its impact on cardiovascular disease (CVD) is understudied. This study investigates the association between NPS and CVD prevalence and mortality among US adults.
Methods And Results: This study utilized data from the Continuous National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) conducted between 1999 and 2016, with mortality follow-up data available through December 31, 2019.

Front-of-pack nutrition labels (FOPNLs) have been developed since 1989 to curb the increasing prevalence of obesity and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and to promote healthy consumption choices. While several countries have introduced their own labeling schemes on a voluntary basis, the European Commission aims to harmonize a FOPNL system that will be mandatory for all member states. This paper summarizes a contribution to the current debate on FOPNLs from Italian and Spanish researchers working in the fields of human nutrition, nutritional epidemiology and public health education and communication policy before the final decision on FOPNLs to become mandatory in Europe is taken.

Background: Minimal access liver surgery (MALS) is considered superior to open liver resection (OLR) in reducing the perioperative risk in patients affected by hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). No national-level comparisons exist based on procedure complexity. This study aims to compare postoperative complications, postoperative ascites (POA), and major complications (MC) between MALS and OLR.

Background: In pediatric patients, celiac disease (CD) may influence the health-related quality of life (HRQoL).
Aims: The study aimed to assess HRQoL and further characterise the clinical factors associated with reduced HRQoL, in a large multicenter pediatric cohort with CD.
Methods: The disease-specific questionnaire CD Dutch Questionnaire (CDDUX) and the generic questionnaire Paediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) were used to assess the HRQoL.

Purpose: Anti-programmed cell death 1 (PD1) is the first-choice treatment in patients with advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC), when curative options are unavailable. However, reliable biomarkers for patient selection are still lacking.
Experimental Design: In this translational study, clinical annotations, tissue and liquid biopsies were acquired to investigate the association between sustained objective responses and transcriptional profiles, immune cell dynamics in tumor tissue and peripheral blood samples, as well as circulating cytokine levels.

Italy is witnessing an unprecedented success for sushi even if Italian consumers have a historical reluctance towards eating raw fish. It is important to understand what is behind this major shift in preferences, since it may set an example for the process of adoption of global products and/or diets. To this aim, we investigated which food motives drive sushi consumption (i.

Background: Wild game meat has over the years gained popularity across the globe as it is considered a food source with high protein content, low fat content, and a balanced composition of fatty acids and minerals, which are requirements for a healthy diet. Despite this popularity, there is a concern over its safety as many species of wildlife are reservoirs of zoonotic diseases including those of bacterial origin, more so antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Methods: This study aimed to describe the prevalence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in mammalian wild game, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.

BCL11B is a Cys2-His2 zinc-finger (C2H2-ZnF) domain-containing, DNA-binding, transcription factor with established roles in the development of various organs and tissues, primarily the immune and nervous systems. BCL11B germline variants have been associated with a variety of developmental syndromes. However, genotype-phenotype correlations along with pathophysiologic mechanisms of selected variants mostly remain elusive.
