Objective: To study the inhibitory effect of Capsule (GFC) on migration of human ovarian cancer cells and explore the possible mechanism.

Methods: Sixty Wistar rats were randomized into 4 groups for daily gavage of saline or 4, 8, or 16 g/kg GFC suspension for 5 days to prepare blank and low-, medium- and high-dose GFC-medicated sera. Cisplatinresistant ovarian cancer SKOV3/DDP cells were treated with these sera with nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) inhibitor SN50 as the positive control, and the changes in migration ability and apoptosis of the cells were examined using scratch assay and flow cytometry, respectively; the changes in the mRNA and protein expressions of CDH1, CDH2, caspase 3 and NF- κB were detected using RT-qPCR and Western blotting.

Ruxolitinib has demonstrated efficacy in patients with myelofibrosis (MF). However, substantial number of patients may not respond after 3-6 months of treatment or develop resistance over time. In this phase 2 trial, patients with a current diagnosis of intermediate or high-risk MF who either had an inadequate splenic response or spleen regrowth after ruxolitinib treatment were enrolled.

Studies have implicated necroptosis mechanisms in orthopaedic-related diseases, since necroptosis is a unique regulatory cell death pattern. However, the role of Necroptosis-related genes in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has not been well described. We downloaded RA-related data information and Necroptosis-related genes from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), Kyoto Gene and Genome Encyclopedia (KEGG) database, and Genome Enrichment Analysis (GSEA), respectively.

State Key Laboratory of Esophageal Cancer Prevention and Treatment and Henan Key Laboratory for Esophageal Cancer Research of The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou, Henan, China.

Background: The impact of hospital volume on the long-term survival of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) has not been well assessed in China, especially for stage I-III stage ESCC. We performed a large sample size study to assess the relationships between hospital volume and the effectiveness of ESCC treatment and the hospital volume value at the lowest risk of all-cause mortality after esophagectomy in China.

Aim: To investigate the prognostic value of hospital volume for assessing postoperative long-term survival of ESCC patients in China.

Cadmium is a component of ambient metal pollution, which is linked to diverse health issues globally, including male reproductive impairment. Assessments of the acute effects of cadmium on male reproduction systems, such as testes, tend to be based on frank adverse effects, with particular molecular pathways also involved. The relationship between cytotoxicity potential and cellular stress response has been suggested to be one of the many possible drivers of the acute effects of cadmium, but the link remains uncertain.

This study aimed to observe whether the treatment-free remission (TFR) of second-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is better than imatinib (IM) . The clinical data of 274 CML patients who discontinued treatment and with complete clinical data were retrospectively studied from June 2013 to March 2021. Using both univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression models, risk factors influencing TFR outcomes after drug withdrawal in CML patients were assessed.

Am J Transl Res

December 2022

State Key Laboratory of Esophageal Cancer Prevention & Treatment and Henan Key Laboratory for Esophageal Cancer Research of The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhengzhou University Zhengzhou 450052, Henan, The People's Republic of China.

Keratin pearls (KP) is an important indicator of the degree of tumor cell differentiation of esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (ESCC). However, the independent prognostic value of KP in ESCC patients remains unclear. The hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) stained tissue microarrays (TMAs) or whole slides of the patients were prepared to identify the existence of KP.

Introduction: Transformation from lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) to small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is one of the mechanisms responsible for acquired EGFR-TKIs resistance. Although it rarely happens this event determines a rapid disease deterioration and needs specific treatment.

Patient And Method: We report a case of 75-year-old LUAD female with a p.

5-HIAA (5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid) is a metabolite for 5-hydroxytryptamine which is excreted in urine and reflects human homeostatic sate. Thus, its monitoring is of great important for clinical diagnosis. In this work, blue-emitting carbon dots (BCD) were firstly synthesize and then covalently grafted onto red-emitting MOF (EuBTC), resulting in a composite sensing platform (BCD@EuBTC) with two emission bands (blue emission peaking at 441 nm and red emission peaking at 616 nm).

To investigate the effects of vagus nerve stimulation(VNS) on hippocampal neuro-inflammatory and α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR) expression in rats with intractable epilepsy (IE). Eighty adult male SD rats (SPF) were randomly divided into control group, model group, VNS group and MLA+VNS group. There were respectively 20 rats in the control group and MLA+VNS group, and because of model failure and animal death, 15 rats and 14 rats in the model group and VNS group were left respectively .

Increased prognostic value of clinical-reproductive model in Chinese female patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

World J Gastroenterol

April 2022

State Key Laboratory of Esophageal Cancer Prevention & Treatment and Henan Key Laboratory for Esophageal Cancer Research of the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou 450052, Henan Province, China.

Background: In China, it has been well recognized that some female patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) have different overall survival (OS) time, even with the same tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage, challenging the prognostic value of the TNM system alone. An effective predictive model is needed to accurately evaluate the prognosis of female ESCC patients.

Aim: To construct a novel prognostic model with clinical and reproductive data for Chinese female patients with ESCC, and to assess the incremental prognostic value of the full model compared with the clinical model and TNM stage.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and chronic disease management in 540 patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) receiving tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).
  • Researchers used questionnaires to gather data on demographics, treatment, and HRQoL, employing a specific assessment tool (FACT-Leu) and analytical methods to understand influencing factors.
  • Findings showed that better disease management levels correlated with improved HRQoL scores, and factors like transportation convenience, higher income, and successful treatment responses significantly affected patients' well-being.
