Viral evolution impacts diagnostic test performance through the emergence of variants with sequences affecting the efficiency of primer binding. Such variants that evade detection by nucleic acid-based tests are subject to selective pressure, enabling them to spread more efficiently. Here, we report a variant-tolerant diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2 using a loop-mediated isothermal nucleic acid-based amplification (LAMP) assay containing high-fidelity DNA polymerase and a high-fidelity DNA polymerase-medicated probe (HFman probe).

PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) are a novel type of small non-coding RNAs (sncRNAs), which are 26-31 nucleotides in length and bind to PIWI proteins. Although piRNAs were originally discovered in germline cells and are thought to be essential regulators for germline preservation, they can also influence gene expression in somatic cells. An increasing amount of data has shown that the dysregulation of piRNAs can both promote and repress the emergence and progression of human cancers through DNA methylation, transcriptional silencing, mRNA turnover, and translational control.

Department of Pharmacology, School of Pharmacy, Nantong University, #19 Qixiu Road, Nantong, 226001, Jiangsu, China. Electronic address:

We recently reported that intraperitoneal injection of a low dose of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) prevents chronic stress-induced depression-like behaviors in mice. In this study, we reported that a single intranasal LPS administration (10 μg/mouse) one day prior to stress exposure produced prophylactic effects on chronic social defeat stress (CSDS)-induced depression-like behaviors, which was indicated by the reduction in social interaction time in the social interaction test and the decrease in immobility time in the tail suspension test and forced swimming test. The single intranasal LPS administration prior to stress exposure was also found to prevent CSDS-induced anxiety-like behaviors, including prevention of CSDS-induced decrease in the time spent in open arms in the elevated plus maze test, decrease in the time spent in lit side in the light-dark test, and decrease in the time spent in central regions in the open field test, along with no changes in locomotor activity.

Vibrio parahaemolyticus possesses two types of flagella: a single polar flagellum (Pof) for swimming and the peritrichous lateral flagella (Laf) for swarming. Expression of Laf genes has previously been reported to be regulated by the quorum sensing (QS) regulators AphA and OpaR. In the present study, we showed that OpaR, the QS regulator at high cell density (HCD), acted as a negative regulator of swimming motility and the transcription of Pof genes in V.

Although accumulating documents have expounded the pivotal position of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in hepatocarcinogenesis and progression, the overwhelming majority of their functions and molecular mechanisms in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are elusive. Herein, we explored the functions and potential mechanisms of hsa_circ_0005785 in HCC, which was aberrantly overexpressed in HCC and related to HCC patients' TNM stage and overall survival. Moreover, hsa_circ_0005785 depletion could repress proliferation and metastasis of the HCC cell , lead to cell apoptosis and cell-cycle arrest, and restrain HCC cell growth .
